We haven’t heard too much from Argentine striker Facundu Ferreyra, who signed on a season-long loan from Shakhtar Donetsk in August.
Facundu Ferreyra – on a one year loan deal
Facundu has had difficulty making the first team squad so far, but we suppose he needs time to settle down and it looks like he was very impressive in the U21 5-0 win on Monday against Middlesbrough at St James’s Park.
Ferreyra did play in the pre-season, but has yet to make his debut at Newcastle with Papiss Cisse, Manu Riviere and young Spaniard Ayoze Perez all ahead of him in the pecking order.
It seems like U21 manager Peter Beardsley was impressed with what he saw on Monday:
“I have to say he’s been excellent for us,” “He hasn’t played many games for us, but he’s been outstanding.”
“He was involved in Arma’s first goal, and I just look at the things he does for the team and his attitude is incredible.”
“One day, hopefully, he’ll be a top player for us.” “His attitude is spot on – he’s brilliant around the training ground – and really, I couldn’t praise him enough.”
Ferreyra knew Newcastle captain Fab Coloccini, and it seems he was signed on loan on the recommendation of the Newcastle captain.
There was a report in the Chronicle a few weeks ago that Facundu was not impressing at all in training, but that report could have been untrue.
It seems the report yesterday that Vurnon Anita was grumbling to Alan Pardew about not getting into the squad was also untrue – according to the player himself.
Maybe Facundu can still come though soon for the side, but he will have to make a big impact in the first team, if he has any chance of making his loan deal permanent.
It’s good that he has a top class attitude, and it would be great if the Argentine can find his feet soon, and start playing well for the Newcastle first team.

Comment #41I thought Ferreyra looked quite canny we he came on against Real Sociedad. He only got 15 mins but held the ball up well and his movement of the ball was good. He did well for our goal sending Obertan away with a good pass who in turn pulled it back for Sissoko to slot home.

when we first got riviere those that watched French football said he was best as wide forward as part of a 3
the only time he has had some support he did net twice I think then he seemed to get injured
must have been difficult to come into the team for the new buys decent showing against city but then back to last seasons form
must be easier now were winning and they can all find there feet

Comment #45WBA game is perfect for a player like obertan, bad luck.Looks like physical and tackle-filled game so pard may give a chance for Goofy and sammy a start.Better not to risk Aarons and cabella. As ED spot it perfectly, the mgr got another headache for who he should give a start ad almost all of our players are in good form.No matter who comes for who,we gained our shape and confidence, so will be cracking game:
Krul

tiote-colback

Comment #46On the assumption that Pardew sticks to a 4-3-3 formation who will fill the vacant right wing spot now that Oberton is out long term ?
I see an unchanged back line and midfield three of Abeid, Colback and Sissoko but the forward line appears up for grabs.
Perez, Aarons, Cabella and Ameobi all deserve a place based on recent performances. Riviere may be in contention but perhaps not Cisse who possibly came back too early against Liverpool. Will Armstrong (ever) get the nod ?
I think Pardew should play Perez as the lad doesn’t appear a soft touch and can mix it but also has goals in him. As WBA will be attacking being at home we may have to overly rely on quick breakways and therefore I would select Aarons and Ameobi although Riviere could be considered.
Thoughts ?

Comment #47with the next 4 being west brom qpr west ham burnley
given colo’s injury proness this time of year would it not be prudent to rest for 1 or 2 of the next 4 I would give dummet a go at the back again
colo 33 in jan most managers with players of that age tend to rotate them more than we do better to rest than him get injured for 6 weeks

Let’s buy lots of cheap foreign imports on long contracts, sell the ones that come good and clutter up the squad with the ones that don’t.

Comment #55Bit hard to beleive this story, as if he’s that good how can’t he even get on the bench?
This story probably came around after I asked if we could send him back a few days ago 😉
Chucky? More like the invisible man.
Hope he comes good but highly unlikely playing in under 21s.

Comment #56This is another example of a player coming to us and not been given the chance to play me-thinks !
Well typical that some on here are looking at the fact he aint made the first team and are completely against being given a chance to make it with us ?
Mmmmm, Now when have we seen that before?
Oh yeh Luuk de Jong, and before any of you start Barking! Messi would of been Shite in the team playing that second half of last Season?
He is now doing very well in the First Team with PSV, and looks a much better player with them than he did with us !
Given a chance this lad may even be better than Lukie ?
