It was always possible after Ben Arfa’s loan spell was ended at Hull that Newcastle would terminate his contract at Newcastle, so he could move to another club next month as a free agent.
Ben Arfa – during better times at Newcastle
And the news out of France today is that seems to be happening, with the 27 year-old said to be in advanced talks with Nice over a permanent move.
And a week or so ago it was reported that Ben Arfa had left Hull City and was back in his home town, Paris, actively looking for another club, and it was obvious at that time his time was up at Hull.
Since then Hull manager Steve Bruce confirmed he would end the loan spell in January, because it just hadn’t worked out, and Bruce said the Frenchman “wanted to do his own thing”.
The news of Ben Arfa’s pending move is being broadcast by TV station Canal+ in France.
This will not be the first time Newcastle have terminated a contract because they want a player to move on.
That was done with Joey Barton in the summer of 2011, after he had criticized the club and the owner, for allowing captain Kevin Nolan to leave the club and join West Ham, after contract negotiations with Kevin had broken down.
Joey then moved to QPR as a free agent, and he reportedly got a massive wage said to be around £70K/week, and he’s still there.
Newcastle are helping the players in these cases to move to a new club quickly and get a decent contract when they are not wanted on Tyneside, because they are made available as free agents and cost nothing.
It’s just so sad that a player of Ben Arfa’s fantastic abilities is in this position.

why is it always lost on you? the same players lost to sunderland as beat chelsea. Didn’t hear you whinging about a lack of quality then.
Can’t you see the bottom line is the appalling style of football we have to endure match after match.
It’s in pardew’s DNA whether he has a Tevez or a Harewood. hardly any possession, containing , direct football. we hardly score any goals and our GD is always very low.
we’ll have a few wins here and there but history shows pardew is a chronic under achiever wherever he goes. where else would he get a job at any normal club

how many awards would pardew have won for least performing manager of the month during his epic losing runs year on year both here, west ham and charlton.
the mighty all conquering sunderland 4 times (say it slowly) what does it take for you to show a little anger.

A top manager like KK Or SBR wouldn’t work under MA rule but if they ever did Mash says who’s being sold also he decides who’s coming in or should I say who’s not coming.
MA can’t be happy with some of the duds that come in but it was a gamble which is how the regime works.
We are a budget squad with a few decent player’s just waiting to be sold on when the price is right.

Are you being serious? MA has put his own business plans to use in the transfer market. Yes he does buy a odd quality player like Sissoko to keep us in the premier league but most are a gamble with future resale in mind.

that’s my point. Im sure Pardew new exactly what he was signing up to.
MA will know that most decent managers won’t work under his regime, so Pardew is worth hanging onto for now. After all Pardew has little say in transfers and MA doesn’t understand the tactical side, just profits.

What happens if or when Ashley sells off our best stars in January ?
Like many others,I feel like giving up all hope of ever getting a quality team that we can build on and keep so that we can challenge the top four and Europe.
We dread each window but then again, what can we hope for?
Do we want Ashley to sell up?
Do we want him to replace Pards with another fogie?
Problem with him selling is you never know what you’ll get in?and yes it can be worse,a lot worse….ie Cardiff,Leeds,Blackburn
I’m expecting a rubbish window and our team being weakened again.
Fed up with this regime but am black n white and keep tuning in.
What do you all think?

When was Ben Arfa leaving a lose lose?
Gouffran probably delivers more consistency than he ever did and that’s really saying something.
With all that talent at his feet he really should be ashamed of himself.
Think to be given such a gift and p*ss it away like he does.
Many say he’s mismanaged,by how many managers?
If you’re good enough and your head is screwed on then you should be able to create bundles of chances for your teammates,he should’ve been able to ravage defences on every outing not just one moment in ten matches.
Aarons,Perez and Obertan have shown up better than him this year.
Pathetic performances so many times, good riddance but thanks for the three or four amazing goals in the time you were here

By players to sign in January,do you mean real ones?
Tbh I wouldn’t mind if they pick up more bodies in the same caliber as Ayoze but who wouldn’t ?
Think Ashley would love it if he could buy 5 players at 2 million each and gave them playing well like Ayoze ,as that’d keep his pocket fat and the fans off his back.

Comment #68I’ll put it simply. I think Pardew is a capable and hardworking manager, who has the support of the players and an owner more interested in balancing the books than giving him a squad to consistently challenge the top six. We clearly need a better centre forward, we are weakened significantly by a terrible run of injuries and we lost a closely fought derby pushing on for a win.
Nobody could convince me I should be getting angry with Pardew, although I do think after 4 tumultuous years it might be approaching time for a change of manager and certainly a change in attitude from the owner.

I have been posting on here for five years and reading since the start, I have complained about a poster who incidentally turns out to be the same person, three times, all in the last six months. I am not bothered about getting grief on here welsh, low fell mag, beefman13 and jeff from benwell have given me loads over the years and I have never complained once as I think I can give as good as I get, mag92 was on here solely to wind people up, if you believe that he and his previous aliases had a positive contribution to the blog then it sums you up perfectly.

There are a very few very anti Pardew bloggers on here a similar number of very pro Pardew and thevrest of us who realise he is a very average manager with the best job he’ll ever have who very few of us like, the one thing I will say is that it’s a shame Mashley won’t give him that continuous good squad to work with as it would have been interesting to see how it would have transpired for example if he had of been backed after we finished fifth or if Cabaye had of been pursuaded to stay and extra recruitment taken place.

Comment #71I don’t see how anyone can call Pardew an average manager IMO .
Average managers don’t set such horrendous records one after another like Pardew has .
This moron has been responsible for some of the most embarrassing moments I have ever had as an NUFC fan, And short of winning a trophy I will never forgive him .

Comment #72I think Pardew perhaps is failing to do enough to convince the owner to dig deeper into the bank account and he may have some shortcomings tactically. Having said that, the change to a more counter attacking style and the timing and impact of it, might have been considered brilliant if it had been pulled off by someone else. I also think he’ll play in a more open way, when he has confidence in the players, and will continue to do so, even when the odds are against us. I like watching him on the sidelines, he’s animated and involved, and I think he handles himself well in his press conferences. I like him, and I don’t think he’s essentially the problem. I think if we had a Remy, or a Ba, or a Carroll, and fewer injuries, we’d be challenging the top 6 over the course of the season.

I’m saying it shouldn’t be a lose, lose now!!
It seems to be a certainty that he is leaving so they (the management) ought to be trying to get something out of it instead of just terminating his contract which is what appears to be on the cards.
I agree with the sentiment that we never really saw the best of him and that wasn’t totally his fault. Perhaps he should be with a team like Barca. Now there’s an idea we should swap him with Affelay he seems to be unused by them.

And yes I agree with many of the things you said re. his attitude. I wonder what goes on behind closed doors with the players. I wouldn’t be surprised if some (HBA?) don’t get alienated and haven’t got the mentality to cope with the demands of living in the goldfish bowl environment.
Just speculating!

That’s what I mean though .
Like you say our season ending results you could call average, but I still think he should have done better with the players at his disposal .
Then you factor in the shocking cup form, (not including Europa League) derby record, humiliating defeats, touchline manor and much more which make him below average IMO .
Plus I hate him as a person, as he is the polar opposite to someone like Sir Bobby who was a true gentleman .

Comment #78I anyone who thinks Carroll is coming back to us is
p!ssing into the wind.
Firstly Sam aint going to let him go now that he is fit, scoring and getting them into Europe.
Secondly I doubt if he wants to come back.
Why would he want to come back to the club who treated him as a commodity, nothing more.

Comment #79What’s he worth, with half a season left on his contract? A couple of million at best, but in reality quite possibly unsellable at this stage. It’s a measure oh how toxic he’s become, that Newcastle would rather release him, than try to trade him. He’s got as much time left on his contract as Ings I suppose, and wed have sold him rather than loaned him if we could have, but couldn’t, despite trying pretty hard I think.
