Newcastle In Deadline-Day Move For Top Danish International

Newcastle may yet shock us all today, and rather than just moving players out of the club, we may find we have a player coming in, and it’s not one for Peter Beardsley’s Development squad either.

daniel wass

Daniel Wass – 25 year-old versatile player

We have been linked today with a deadline day move for Evian’s 25 year-old Danish International full-back Daniel Wass, who can also play on the wing and in either full-back position.

And since Davide Santon has moved out on loan to Italy, it could it be that Newcastle have actually thought this one through and are bringing in a replacement for the Italian.

That would certainly shock Newcastle fans, but it could also be true.

Daniel has 11 caps for Denmark and played for every one of the Danish Youth sides, and he moved to Evian in June, 2012 from Benfica, so it looks like he’s been watched by Graham Carr and his scouting team.

Wass has played 135 times for Evian after leaving Benfica, where he never played a first team game for the Portuguese giants.

Daniel also has impressive 27 goals with 12 assist, so he is a productive player indeed.

Wass stands 5’11” tall and started his career at Brondy back in 2007, and he played 99 times for the Danish club with 10 goals and 7 assists – again a good return in goals and assists from the player.

Evian paid around £2M for him from Benfica, so he likely will not cost too much more than that to move to Newcastle United.

That’s right up Newcastle’s street, since we like to sign players for low fees and sell them for high fees – very much like what you try to do with stocks and shares to make money.

This lad could be a very decent signing for Newcastle.

If you bother to look back you’ll find I was one of Davide’s biggest fans. Wonderful control and dribble, nice guy. Yet, I’m not sure he has found his place in the team, much like the case of Viana who did fine elsewhere.

Haidara is better at LB, it would be a shame for him to be sitting on the bench behind him. His girlfriend should know that, once injured, you either push the incumbent out or you wait for HIM to be injured. It’s the nature of the beast.

By the way Davide, once your girlfriend gets used to Milano she will not want to leave, man 🙂

Who is this lad, I haven’t heard of him? There seems to be some truth in it though, the delay of Santon to inter seems to bring some credence to it.

SSN reporter outside NUFC training ground just been reporting that a reserve game has taken place today, but player like Vuckic and Good were not involved, they did turn up for training, it’s rumoured they will be loaned to Rangers along with Bigirimana.

He also said that there is no sign of any incomings, and that they don’t expect any.

    Jeff,
Nowt wrong with a good old conspiracy theory. They are almost a daily occurrence on here. Just didn’t make sense to me given the physics still being in place.

Regardless of what people think of Davides abilities, surely it is wrong to get rid purely for financial reasons?? We are light on defenders as it is.

    Firebug,
We played West Brom U21’s in the league. It was 1-1 last time I checked.

If Good is going to Rangers on loan that makes this Santon deal even more baffling!

We’d be ok if Pardew was here, he’d make Cabbela into a LB

This stuff about Davide being out of contract is weird, he clearly likes it here so why not offer him another contract, he’s a talented lad whose had injury issues. Sure Dummet and Haidara can play at LB but Santon can play RB for when Janmatt gets injured. There’s not footballing sense in selling a player when we look so weak on personal at the back.

It proves my point after what I said last night, clubs buying for the sake of buying, so far on transfer deadline day there’s not one player so far that’s been signed by a club that I would want at newcastle.

    Welsh,
Would you not have taken Huth on loan? Surely would add a bit more to our centre back positions than Colo, Willo and Dummett.

In Charnley speech he said No one would be coming in in this window, but we knew that anyway.
The board will be sat with their fingers crossed hoping a bid comes in for Sissoko, that’s how the regime works.
If we’d been in or around the bottom three Mash would have dug into his pocket.

Not sure Lennon would want to come here anyway. Not to play second fiddle to goofy, who carver seems to like as much as pardew did. Mind, if goofy starts finding the net more then it’s not a problem.

Anyone else think it is crazy that Gomis is being touted around at near the 10 million mark?!

West Ham offered 7mil and good old Pardew has offered 9.5mil which have both been TURNED DOWN!!!

He’s a poor purchase on a free and he’s done nowt to prove himself for Swansea yet either.

    Not to mention he’s ancient.

    Welsh,
Have you been watching Swans? Why has their standard fallen so sharply? They played crisp fast mesmerising football, now it’s slow and panicky, despite lucky win. Is it Bony or the coach? Or..?

Williamson and Coloshitty want to be shown the door, they’d be fine in the championship and replace them with some quality.
Either Carr is past it or the board only listen if he’s cheap enough to take a gamble on.

I remember when deadline day used to be exciting, and filled with wonder. Like Christmas for football fans. Now it’s filled with fear and anxiety. It’s a bit like being told you’re present at Christmas is a prostate exam.

    Lil,
Talking of the nature of the beast, wingers do tend to get in and out of games. It’s rare that a winger has the beating of every defender put in front of him anyway.
I’m not exhonerating our wingers mind. They do need more consistency, definitely.

Lads I agree most of what’s been bought wouldn’t get a game here however what is a worry is that the club’s below us are strengthening, we’ve just made ourselves weaker
