We are still waiting to hear from the Newcastle medics on what the prognosis is on the knee injuries to both Cheick Tiote and Paul Dummett.
Paul Dummett – in action this season
Cheick injured his knee playing for the Ivory Coast in Equatorial Guinea in the African Cup of Nations last month, and he was also injured earlier this season, and has played only 12 times for Newcastle this season.
Cheick’s knee injury is thought to be the more serious of the two, and it could mean he’s out for the rest of the season.
And if that turns out to be the case, he will have played his last game for the Magpies, since he’s expected to be sold in the summer.
Paul Dummett is also an important player for Newcastle, since he has shown this season that he can play at center-back, and Newcastle have only two experienced center-backs left in the squad for the rest of the season.
They are Colo (Fab Coloccini) and Willo (Mike Williamson), and if either of those get injured, Paul would be the one to come in – if he’s fit.
However, if Paul is going to be out for some time it would make our problems at center-back even worse, and it’s a good question who Newcastle would then call on.
Maybe 21 year-old Australian International Curtis Good, who unfortunately tends to pick up a lot of injuries, and of course we also have loaned out 20 year-old Remie Streete to Rangers for the rest of the season, but he’s also out injured at the moment.
The worst news would be if both Tiote and Dummett are out for several months, and that would make an already inadequate squad even further weakened for the rest of the season.
Newcastle really need to stop making these deals in the January transfer which weaken the squad for the rest of the season.
It’s a dangerous and even reckless way to run a football club, where money is more important than the strength of the squad, and Newcastle make far too many dicey deals in the January transfer window.
If we are to become a successful club again it has to stop.

Comment #41Yeah I think Cabaye was good for us and sometimes France but he is not Gerrards level as much as I hate Liverpool he was truly World Class at his peak
I think they may struggle to get a replacement for him for a while they might not and have to change their style completely

Comment #46Who comparing Gerrard when at his peak with cabaye?
For those that aren’t aware Gerrard isn’t in his pomp or at his peak, he’s past it which is why cabaye is ideal replacement. Not cabaye is a better player wheb Gerrard was in his prime

Comment #52I’d be surprised if they did go with Henderson and didn’t replace Gerrard. They just need a good passer, who can sit deep and spray passed as well as take set pieces. The legs and intelligence is further up field sterling, coutinho and ibe

just saw your post this morning mate so appols for late response.
From your list I do like karanka and I actually think cocu is more of a realistic target now than de bore who I think is either going to Barca or staying put.(If he goes maybe Berkamp will stick his hand up for the ajax job)
But have to say for years I’ve admired the ajax way of doing things and would love us to be even close to the set up they have in academy etc.
Still have a gut feeling the nearest we will get to a Dutch master is mc claren doing his press conferences is his Renne from allo allo style.
Don’t know about anyone else here but I just want this season done with so we can see what the hell is planned.

Comment #56dok – there is no way the trolls would be up for a ruck. We were able to have a bit of a laugh, however the blog is currently suffering from several bird brains, whose purpose seems to be to annoy everyone else.
I do think that this pair could do with a damn good thrashing to put them in their places.
It may not become so annoying when there is more to discuss on the football front – they are then out of their depths.
mojo – no such thing – Tuff by name tough by nature – a couple of quick slaps and they’d be off hiding.

Congratulations and I share everyone’s best wishes for you and your recently enlarged family.
Now if your new-born son’s as talented as you, Newcastle United’s world-famous scouting network be working hard to be the first to visit you to sign him up as a junior.
Mmmm, on second thoughts, don’t let him go that way. You train him and he’ll have a much better chance of becoming a footballing superstar.

Comment #58And here are more comments from Lee Charley:
“I hate Lee Charnley Bunga Party, I absolutely do. I’m not keen on a lot of the other w*ankers on the blog either. Some real pissants there. We’re doing a fabulous job at the club, JC and I. We know what we’re doing. In fact we’re going to be even more mediocre next year and drop out of the League Cup even earlier. Suck on that tossers.”
Thanks Lee. Lovely stuff.

Comment #61And finally from Lee Charnley:
“If I ever catch GeordieTwo in a dark alley I’m going to fong him silly. Then I’m going to stuff a honey badger up his arse for a change. See how he likes those onions.”
Well said Lee.
