Carver Comment Illustrates Newcastle’s Dysfunction

John Carver has held his press conference for the game tomorrow night against the Red Devils,  and Massadio Haidara is not available, since he has fluid on the knee and will not play.

lee charnley and mike ashley

Lee Charnley and Mike Ashley

So it looks as through Ryan Taylor will continue at left back and he looked impressive in the 30 minutes he put in on Saturday.

And when questioned about Newcastle’s lack of defensive cover,  John said Newcastle may go out and sign a free agent if that’s required.

That brings back memories of how we had to sign Shefki Kuqi four years ago, after he had been released by Swansea, as cover for Andy Carroll after we had let him go on the last day of the January transfer for £35M and didn’t replace him.

If you don’t learn from your mistakes then history repeats itself.

And that seems to be what has happened to Newcastle, because Lee Charnley and company have left the Newcastle squad very threadbare by not strengthening in January.

But the first question we have is that we already have an International class left back on the books – Davide Santon – who we sent out on loan on the last day of the January transfer window – so why don’t we bring him back?

And of course the next point is why didn’t we bring in more defenders in January when we left Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa sign for Roma and let Davide Santon leave for Inter.

And we also sent Remie Streete – a promising center-back – leave on loan to Rangers.

Do Newcastle not think through what may happen if the team picks up more injuries or players are suspended.

It doesn’t look like it.

Newcastle have made a huge mistake by allowing the squad to become so threadbare. and they are now just hoping that more players are not injured or suspended – like Colo or Willo for example – who are the only two experienced center-backs we have available.

Newcastle need to do a lot better job in their planning than they have shown in the past, and not just concentrate on taking in the money.

    Ryan Taylor -v- Antonio Valencia

Our boy struggles against real strength and pace, so it will take all his experience to cancel out any wing play.

Its not just NUFC that are dysfunctional, the whole of the PL is ambivalent to maintaining the quality of the league, European qualification and future TV contract revenue.

…”It does not require much imagination to understand that other leagues are resentful of the wealth of English clubs, especially if it is perceived to be undeserved, if the now prodigious income is being channelled into a demonstrably inferior product.”…
    http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/feb/28/european-results-premier-league-arsenal-tottenham-liverpool

There is a greater amount of money for PL clubs to invest in players and wages in comparison to other leagues, but domestically spending competition will not change. However MAs’ race to the bottom does not indicate a concern to keep up the quality of the league. Whilst there is a concern from the PL Board that the increased revenue should not disappear in players wages and agents fees, the spending by NUFC needs to be questioned by the other shareholders.

Newcastle is just a poorly run club, unfortunately 50,000 sheep are making things worse.
MA was at the last match watching everyone cheering, with not understanding football he probably can’t even see the problems.

Good to see Ashley failing to take over Rangers! Shows you what fans United can achieve.

Also see Llambias and Leach (both under Ashley’s orders) have refused to resign and are forcing the EGM to take place at a great cost to Rangers and are looking at preparing their own exit packages whicj will be well over valued and unjust.

Absolute scum the lot of them.

It has and still knowing that SJP will be filled more or less as always!

…foul me once shame on you, foul me twice on me 😉

This need to sink in a sine point if we are to move forward as a unified fan base. It’s the same for me here in Denmark and the club I support here!

Raylor won’t be a good match up although he has been good in his cameos.

    On stats, we look bad:

Newcastle have failed to score in three of their last four home league meetings with Man Utd, though they did win the other 3-0.
Wayne Rooney has netted 12 Premier League goals against the Magpies; a joint-high against any opponent along with Aston Villa.
Juan Mata has scored three goals in his last three Premier League appearances at St James Park.
Newcastle have won just two of their last 24 Premier League matches against Man Utd (W2 D5 L17).
Newcastle have scored the highest percentage of second half goals in the Premier League this season (69%).
Papiss Cissé has the best minutes per goal rate in the Premier League this season (min. 4 goals); one every 84 minutes.
Manchester United have lost just two of their last 17 Premier League matches (W11 D4 L2).

Wy do we need an out of contract player to help out our defence when Vurnon Anita played more games at full back than midfield at Ajax ?

Although what unites us is the support we have for the club there are many diverging ideas about what would make the club progress and how to achieve it, including that nothing can be done. Supporting the team and attending the matches is the most important principle that a lot of fans have and that will change for nothing.

Instead of blaming spectators, new and different ways of protesting against the decision making of the ownership need to be utilised. Focusing the attention of the media to bring the business practices of MA into the public domain, would show that fans are not satisfied with the current owner and why.

I would suggest a properly produced banner equalling the size of the official one in the stadium would be a good start. The theme would need to be decided on, resources shared to produce a lightweight and fold-able product that could be wrapped around a person under an over large coat.

Cannot believe this at all – and ask the question what is the point.
SFA have fined Mr Tubbs £7,500 for exerting too much influence at Ibrox.
He probably carries that amount around in his back pocket.

Anita shouldn’t even be a professional footballer, there’s defently better players in league 1. The same with Williamson.
Worst thing is they’ll stop until there contacts run out because they have no sell on value.

Lindisfarne…you also need to be fair. Look at the current situation and tell me what a full SJP accomplishes!

…it’s not even like they can agree on something like standing up and leaving ay a given time.

All I can say is if I wad MA I wouldn’t feel the need to change anything ! Why should I – the Stadium is full and Sky wouldn’t complain ad long as it is!

Hi Jesper…To be fair mate, I know you’re not interested in the situation at Rangers, but many others are, me included.

Lots of stories that aren’t directly connected with NUFC get discussed on here, surely this should be allowed some air time for those who are interested?

Anyway, how’s the little one doing?

Tuff is still bummed as despite him flagging that Ashley was going to be held to account he didn’t bother to show up. It’s Tuff with the credibility problem on company law as his legal representation showed.

What Tuff doesn’t appreciate is that Mash isn’t a director of Rangers. Your constant talk of good governance, legal duty of a director just goes to show pal that you don’t know what your talking about.
As I said around a week ago when you sounded off the loans to
Rangers were against future cash flow. Ashley knows how to mitigate
risk even if you don’t .
You might fool some but not anyone who recognises watertight contracts.
Do you actually have a clue about Company law and indeed Scottish
law you numpty. You probably think you can fix it by tearing up the
    Retail Contracts.

John…Which blog is Darn Sarf slumming it on these days? .co.uk?

I shall check out the Daily Record.

I think Tuff is aware Ashley isn’t a director. He was being investigated for 2 things, influencing and not having the best interest of the football association.

“But on Tuesday afternoon it announced it found that he had broken disciplinary rule 19, meaning that, while he owns Newcastle, he had also influenced the running of Rangers. ”

However, the SFA say “the alleged breach was not proved” relating to disciplinary rule 77, which states that “a recognised football body, club, official, team official, other member of team staff, player, match official or other person under the jurisdiction of the Scottish FA shall, at all times, act in the best interests of Association Football”.

Not sure why you’ve had a dig at Tuff, it’s quite clear he does (or perhaps soon to be did) control at Rangers. As for the second charge, we all know whose interests are being looked after.

I think Tuffs main point is that a £7,500 fine is pathetic, which it is. That’s no deterrant for men in those sort of positions.

I do not mind been challenged on any points I do make however to have a series of comments attributed to me about company law, good governamce, legal duties of directors etc etc. which are invented and only in the mind of Mr Multiple is quite frankly outrageous.
Please provide details of what you accuse me of – you clot.

Tuff took me to task over the matter at word of the initial charge. You can see those bloggers who have any commercial , financial and legal knowledge. Ashley was fined over a rule breach which is insignificant.
Ashley’s charges over cash flow are crucial given Rangers are cash strapped. If that’s a disciplinary hearing!

Carvers comments ? That’s been every fans comment since Ashley took over, sorry not took over, but after the first year of telling the fans what’s going to happen and then doing the complete opposite. Since Then!!!
I just don’t get it though, if cash in his pocket is all important then would he not want us to get further in the cups and better placed higher in the table. Further and higher means more money made, we only need a few quality players to take us over the edge. Surely 40 Million investment would cover the defense and possibly another striker. He would get that back after the first year in shirt sales and league and cup position.
Oh well lets get ready to scratch our heads tomorrow night and swearing at the game.
