Newcastle have Remy Cabella and Rob Elliot returning to the squad for the game at Everton tomorrow, but we heard yesterday that Mehdi Abeid is out for up to three weeks with a thigh muscle strain.
Remy Cabella – can play number 10 role
Jack Colback is back from his two game suspension, and it was always going to be very probable that Jack would come in for Mehdi Abeid in central midfield.
It’s good to have Cabella back and we need some players who can score goals.
Massadio Haidara is still not ready to return because of his knee problem, and it looks like Ryan Taylor will be at left back, and that will help the forwards because of Ryan’s ability at set plays – like free kicks and corners.
Papiss Cisse is out for seven games so he will not be playing – and we’d be surprised if Carver plays in an attacking 4-4-2 formation away from home.
So maybe this is the best side John Carver can play tomorrow in a 4-2-3-1 formation:
Krul
Janmaat Williamson Coloccini (c) Taylor (R)
Colback Sissoko
Obertan Cabella Ameobi
Perez
Subs: Elliot Satka Anita Armstrong Gutierrez Riviere Gouffran
Having Cabella in the withdrawn striker behind Ayoze Perez should hopefully give us some additional scoring power – maybe.
Carver could easily start Gutierrez for Ameobi tomorrow on the left too.
What would your team be for the Toffees tomorrow?

Comment #1The Cisse ban is very interesting, I’m almost certain Riviere will start every one of those 7 games. Will he seize this opportunity or will he basically end his career with Newcastle? I hope he takes it by the scruff of the neck, he works hard and gets into some nice positions, now it’s time for him to show some composure and stop lashing at the ball.

Comment #2RH…it truly is! It’s just sad when the multiple cannot remember what they are quoting and just wing it!
…sometimes I think it’s a case of Hank and Charlie 😉

Comment #3Personally I’d go for slotting Ryan Taylor into midfield with Jack given that Haidara isn’t available -Taylor’s a better bet there than he is at left back after last week’s showing. Maybe Jonas at left back then? Blimey, its getting paper thin now. Ideally Cabella would be on the bench at most, don’t really want him overdoing it returning from injury himself! One eye on the tactics, the other cringeing every time someone breaks into a run or takes a tackle
