There is more bad news for Newcastle today, with left-back Massadio Haidara likely to be out for an extended period with his bad knee.
Massadio Haidara being taken off on a stretcher against Villa
Massadio suffered the injury in the 1-0 home win against Aston Villa on 28th February, but after the game the head coach (and even the player himself) said he was expected to be available for the game at home to Manchester United four days later.
But he hasn’t been back since then, and an injection has failed to settle the knee.
Head coach John Carver has said this on injuries:
“The good news is that I’ve not got a selection problem because I’ve only got 13 fit senior players, plus two keepers, so that won’t be too difficult.”
“There’s no sign of anyone coming back in the near future other than Mehdi, who is a week or so away.” “We’re working on Rolando, everyone else is more or less long-term.”
So that statement puts Massadio in the long term injured bracket, and Newcastle must be kicking themselves for letting specialist left-back Davide Santon leave for Inter-Milan in January.
If they’re not they should be.
Now we have no recognized left back available and only one recognized center back for the next three games at least.
But it could even be that Massadio is out for the season with that knee injury.

It’s good to have contrary opinions, and that is good for the blog & between us!!
Hope we’ll continue it some other time..

Must disagree there. Sissoko ineffectual? Depends on what effect you require I guess. With the right coaching this guy will be better than Toure in a couple years.
Hope we keep him. Many must go this summer, he must be the first to be enticed to stay.

Comment #84I hope none of you guys actually believe that we will be spending a lot of money in the summer. The club know that this season is over and for that reason they are attempting to con us all into buying/renewing season tickets. They always do it at this time of year.
What kind of club tries to con its own fans just so they can get more money. It shouldn’t be about the money. What kind of message does that send out to the younger generation? I actually sympathise for them(younger generation) because they wont have seen what football is really about. No wonder its going down hill.

He can’t tackle, is weak off the ball, his passing is poor, he offers little creativity, he offers little goal threat, can’t mark a man or track a runner.
Strong when running with the ball in the opposition half, and has done well for us in allowing us to counter quickly, but he wouldn’t be anywhere near a place in any of the top 6 sides.
He will be better than Toure in a couple of years because Toure will be past it by that stage. (I know that isn’t what you meant, but he isn’t even close to Toure at his peak.)

He could become good, but he will have to improve virtually every aspect of his game if he wants to play regularly at a top club.
