It seems that Mehdi Abeid is the only player who is now available from the squad that were beaten 2-1 last time out against Arsenal at St. James’ Park.
Yoan Gouffran – likely to start
Looking at the first team squad on the Newcastle web-site we seem to have only 16 senior first team players available for this game.
Cisse and Coloccini are suspended, and the rest are out injured, and most of them – like Cheick Tiote, Siem de Jong, Steven Taylor, Paul Dummett and Massadio Haidara – are out for the season.
We think John Carver will play in a 4-2-3-1 formation and it looks like young Ayoze Perez will have to play up front on his own
This is the side we think John will field on Sunday
Krul
Taylor (R) Williamson Janmaat Colback
Sissoko (c) Abeid
Gouffran Cabella Ameobi
Perez
Subs: Elliott Satka Anita Gutierrez Obertan Armstrong Riviere
We’d like to see Jonas Gutierrez get a start tomorrow, but Carver always seems to play Gouffran in the starting eleven, so we expect Yoan to start the game.
What would your team be for tomorrow, and what formation would you play?

Comment #2This is the problem at Newcastle – we aim for the sky – other clubs aim for the stars. It’s all down to perception and ambition, of which Newcastle have none under the current regime !

Comment #3what’s it with sterling hmmm?
He unsettled medias and pundits.
He is good player but how come he turn his back on a club that make him grow?
Obviously he must have offers with the likes of R.mad or something. Anyway, nothing to do with us but his actions and interview may sway our own sterling-Aarons ffs!

Comment #6Just looking at Ed’s line up..
It is probably the best we can have but dear me it’s frightening. What has become of the Toon?
Players out of position.
Ameobi, Williamson a young Perez upfront which is a hell of a job for him up on his own in this fixture at his age. Even Ryan Taylor, as a good a lad as he is and has been extremely brave in his comebacks. Is he good enough to play in defence for the Toon?
How many of those players should really be selected for first team duties at this club?
I can’t even look at the bench.

Comment #7Based on the data I had to hand, Newcastle had a couple of years back the 8th highest turnover of the premier league clubs. With good management, assuming there aren’t huge outstanding debts, that should equate to the 8th highest wages and the 8th in the table. He’s not got them a million miles from that currently.
Tuff
It seems that anyone who takes a different view to you is immediately classed as a multiple. I will take it that you are a fan although it seems from reading the blog that this is arguable. As a fan I have to be realistic and expect to never see Newcastle win the league again as long as I live, unless there’s a huge change in our fortunes or the way the Premier League is run. It would take a genius to incrementally
increase the value of the team year on year and to slowly but surely improve our league standing to the top four and Champions League.
I think Newcastle fans need to either accept that reality, or speak out to change it. But not to behave like an immature spotty teenager and accuse randomly anyone who comes onto the blog that has an opposing
view to you.
You clearly have a lot of time on your hands protecting your flock so why don’t you get involved and do something useful to change things for the club. Rather than behave in your current manner.
You know it makes sense! I don’t want to read your post match Monday morning quarterback usual clap trap comments.
If you don’t like it change it and give the blog readers a brake.

Comment #8I would like to see a 4-3-1-2 and attack them.
Taylor, Williamson, Janmaat, Jonas
Abeid, Colback, Ameobi
Sissoko
Cabella Perez
Obviously the keeper picks himself.
Anita, Satka, Rivierre, Obertan, Elliot, Gouffran, Armstrong on the bench.

Comment #9I won’t go fishing, I’ll go to my ex pat Geordie’s place here on the Rock and watch with the same intensity as I always do regardless of the Manager or Regime because I’m a Geordie and this is the big one. For those who have given up on the club, that’s your choice but as I’ve said before, I can remember the Seymour and McKeag days and believe me they were worse. I agree with MrToon in the selection and hope he plays Colback in his best position because this is a huge game for him and I’d hate to see him exposed and at the mercy of the home fans. I would play Abeid because I think he’s class and I’d play Perez from the start but would look for Armstrong to come on because he understands what this means to us.
My prediction? A 2-2 draw and to be honest I’ll settle for that. Toon, Toon…………….

Comment #10Id change that as we need passion within the team and playing as many geordies in the team
I would start jonas at left back ( i know he isnt geordie but he is so passionate about the club )
4-4-2
Krul
Raylor-willo-janmaat-jonas
Gouffran-Colback-sissoko-ameboi
Perez-cabella
Abeid could play RM but its hard for him to be dropped as he is class, Armstrong should come on as knows so well about this game.
But its “risky” to play youth players however everton would of never found wayne rooney if they played him at a young age for the first team

Comment #14Anyone watching the Arsenal Liverpool game.
After Liverpool missed two chances Arsenal destroying them with three superb goals.
could be a chance to get at Liverpool’s defence if we have a go – sit back we’ll get destroyed.
Mind you which TOON will turn up tomorrow 1st half against Arsenal two weeks ago we’ll get beat –
Second half and take our chances should tear them apart
nufc daft

Comment #15My team for the scum match would be
Krul
Taylor jan. Willo gutti
Abied colback
Obertan Sissoko Cabella
Perez
I would try and hit them with plenty of pace in the first half with there defence not been best on the back foot,I think if we could sit abied and colback just in front of back four and always make sure one stays there when we attack to protect our patched up back four we could expose them at the back,
My prediction is heart says 5 nil to us but my head says 2-2
Toon toon!!!

Comment #16I am so sick of ‘cover the blanks Gouffran’ !! He isn’t edfective in either position he plays in and is just keeps fetting in the tesm cuz he tracks back! What a waste of space!
