It’s rally been a great story for Jonas Gutierrez this year when he’s appeared 1`1 times for Newcastle and he score his first goal of the year for us after 85 minutes yesterday to cement his place as a real Newcastle legend, after he has bravely fought testicular cancer and won his battle by shown guts and determination – which he has shown in all his appearances for Newcastle this year – and yesterday was a highlight.
If you wrote this stuff – nobody would believe you.

Jonas Gutierrez – in PL team of the week
The EA Sports Performance Index have just released the Premier League team of the week, and Jonas Gutierrez – not surprisingly – has been named as the best midfielder for yesterday’s games.
It’s really a fitting end to Jonas’ seven years on Tyneside, and his contract will not be renewed in the summer, although we would like to see him get an extra two year deal – but that will not happen.
EA Sports Performance ranks players on a number of different criteria and Jonas came out on top as the best midfielder yesterday – so he looked like he was having a good game – and he did have a good game.
He has written his own history at Newcastle and will now always be remembered for what he has achieved over the last two years and following his struggles with cancer.
It’s a heart warming story – and something we all need these days with all the (bad) stuff seemingly going on around the world.
Jonas is a credit to himself and to Newcastle United football club , and his story is being told around the world today.
It’s inspiring stuff.
Here is the Premier League Team of the Week.

Comment #2One-year deal should be a no-brainer, club captaincy, despite not always playing I’d also be in favour of.
Boro being outplayed and 2 down in 15mins.

Agree. Jonas should get an extension. For his character alone. We need him to be a bridge between old and new.
The passion he has displayed for this club has been nothing short of great.

Comment #4Blackley don’t act stupid for the sake of argument it does you no favours. I would say discernment fits a nufc over mufc fan any day ha ha. You’ve scuppered your own position by saying nufc fans are non discerning. Look it up if you’ve got the wrong word.

Interesting. If Norwich win, their planned parachute payments from previous relegation will be shared among the rest of the PL clubs – £24m.

Comment #8I hope the smogs win. We might have a chance of beating a team in the north east then. Or being hammered by two. Hmmm

Comment #10And Blackley at least have a go at engaging instead of just winding up, you’re confirming your eviction from the other blog atm. it’s an olive branch sort of. I do see both sides, but I have my view.

Comment #12From the discussion on the post prior, Riviere (the useless f****ing donkey) can not play up front in this league. He was best off on the sides of a front three.
Also, who takes our attacking training?
WHY THE FCUK WERE THERE THREE PLAYERS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PITCH WHEN ANITA WAS FOUR ON ONE?!?!
If we hadn’t have won yesterday I think a lot more people would be looking at that – but that sort of stuff has been a key downfall in our league position this year.

Can’t see Boro getting back into this.

Comment #19Norwich and Boro are playing football light years ahead of what Carver can organise and we have regular internationals in our team !!!
It shows if you have a proper manager and coaches you can get your teams to perform

Comment #23Think announcements will begin tomorrow, ours should be done by Thursday, well, least we should know if it’s Carver or not by Thursday. Most will be taking this as an evaluation day/cooling off period.

Comment #26I have the feeling that if Charnley does not get rid of Carver Ashley will get rid of Charnley.
Carver was given a shit situation, there is no doubt. A small squad that got smaller by the weak. However, no one in their right mind can expect to get the job after the run he had.
Likewise, anybody who hands that job to Carver must be out of their mind.

Comment #28Yeah, Karanka outclassed by that young manager at Norwich today. Norwich been in control since they scored, even this second-half, they’ve obviously gone out to contain and Boro have no answers, hardly created a thing.

Comment #29News that McClaren will be sacked this afternoon but I’m hoping we don’t go back after he rebutted us weeks ago. Lets have a good young foreign coach with modern ideas.

Comment #31If the club ain’t gonna give Jonas a contract extension it’s their call.
However, given his courage, determination and professionalism when surrounded by incompetent folk, he’d be good to have around – a roving ambassador in the Spanish-speaking countries? Or even around the club as one to help the kids when they get a bit down?
A great gesture would be to stage a testimonial type of match at SJP – a fund raiser for Cancer-related charities – allowing 54000 Geordies say a massive thanks for saving the club from the drop.

Aside from his poor coaching, Carver’s personality is questionable for a coaching position – no matter where.
A coach’s focus should be dedicated to his tutees, not himself!
