One Player Offered New Deal – Four Others Leave

A little bit of a surprise tonight that Sammy Ameobi has been offered a new deal at Newcastle when his contract runs out at the end of June, while Jak Alnwick, Adam Campbell and Remie Streete will – as expected – not have their contracts renewed.

Facundo Ferreyra has completed his one year loan deal at Newcastle from Shakhtar Donetsk, and he didn’t play for the first team at all, and was hardly ever on the bench – so how much did that cost us?

Sammy Ameobi gets new deal

Here is the statement just issued by Newcastle United.

Newcastle United striker Sammy Ameobi has been offered a new contract at St. James’ Park.

The 23-year-old, who sees his current deal expire at the end of June, played 25 Premier League games last season.

Whilst Ameobi has been offered a new deal, three other players who are also out of contract will leave the club when their contracts expire on 30 June.

Jak Alnwick, Adam Campbell and Remie Streete will all be seeking pastures new next season, whilst Facundo Ferreyra returns to Shakhtar Donetsk after completing his one year loan deal on Tyneside.

With Sammy not being able to make the team in the last few games of the season, we didn’t think he had done enough to warrant a new deal but he’ll be given another chance – maybe for two years?

Sammy has played 66 times for Newcastle in total with four goals since he made his first-team debut in May, 2011 as a second-half substitute against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. His older brother Shola also made his Newcastle debut against Chelsea at home in September, 2000.

Both Adam Campbell and Remie Streete were at one time top youngsters at Newcastle United, but they are two more in a long list that didn’t make the grade on Tyneside.

Jak Alnwick played eight games for Newcastle this season when both Tim Krul and Rob Elliot were out injured.

What happened to that MD who was in charge at Southampton? He seemed to do well for them and was quite ruthless

Get him in with Keegan or Ginola as Director of Football let Carr go back to scouting players

we wont know how good our players are unil we get a class manager..so we should sell just yet..except fro williamson..hes crap..

as for goufrann, etc.. yohann did great when he arrived..so did sissoko..everyone did..but when playing for pardew and carver..what can you expect..everyone gets demoralised..players and fans..

anyway..i really really like the idea of having Jocelyn Gourvennec as our manager.. so far he did great..worked on a budget..and overachived..hes ot just a one season wonder..knows french players..young..forward thinking..

his only downside is probably that he doesnt have a power to persuade world class players to join us (yet)..other that that..on pair with FDB..perhaps even better..

    A midfield three of:

Would be amazing IF Anita plays to a similar level as his performance against west Ham.

    This team looks very strong:

    ———–De Jong

Brady(battle it out for a sub space with the others)
    Elmohamedy(same as Brady)

    Colo(never gonna happen)

    Loan out:

How another daft Ameobi has a contract I don’t know. Must be giving them out these days. If that’s a sign of the club’s intent for future years then we’ll continue to go downhill. His crossing is inconsistent and generally poor in my opinion. Now and then he puts over a good ball, but at the top level, that isn’t good enough.

If Carver and the brolly wally get the job, I think there’ll be a number of season tickets being packed in. If Carver alone gets it, there’ll be a lot more.

    Ashley out.

I like the look of that team and squad

Really anxious to see who we sign and who the manager is !

Compare our clubs approach to West Hams :

West ham are great for comparing with. Both teams are mid-table. Difference is they have an ambitious owner which is going to give them a better manager and most probably players. They are going about it the right way, surely we should take a leaf out of there book? But naaaaa, we’ll do what we do best, keep all our business in the dark and let all the paper talk give the fans hope whilst we secretly appoint john carver. Sounds great!

Not at all surprising Ed. Very talented and unique type of player, given his combination of ball skills, pace, height, relative youth and physical potential, considering how his brother’s body developed in the second part of his career.. Shola became quite a handful physically, and so you’d expect Sammy to be in due course. The failing is in consistency, but he is willing and he has plenty strings to his bow, and even now a more than useful squad player. Plus he’s a Geordie. Cue Jesper rant.

Agree wth jimmy, not a big of a surprise.

What’s more surprising is Remi Streete. Yet another one of our youngsters we held with such promise has not even been given a chance.

Who is to say Lascelles will even start games? I remember Yanga-Mbiwa when we signed him.

    And what happened to Bigirimana?

This statement from the club confirms my worst fears that carver is going nowhere.
Clearly discussions have taken place as to who id kept on next season Now, is charlady qualified to assess a players potential?
was it Carr making the call?
    or Carver?
The fact that jonas was let go pronto seems to me carver has had a say .
And if he has then why?
If we are looking for a new coach should that have been his call?
or maclaren is already being consulted .
meanwhile west ham go and get deboar
    f@@@@@K MAN we never learn

Good to see Sammy offered a new deal.
Has done very well, esp till Dec of last yr,
So deserves another trial at the club.
    However, what about Aarons?
He should have got a new deal as well, more than anyone else.
On the side note,it’s fair decision on Rtaylor & Jonas,to release them.No doubt both contributed their part and wish them all the best.We have to look for the future & should give a chance to youngsters like Aarons,Sammy,Roberts etc…

I think it is surprising, I don’t rate him at all as a Premier League footballer. Good glimpses here and there is no good for this league and it’s not just Ameobi either, consistency is a huge problem at the club once injuries set in badly with some players. He goes missing far too much for me, having too many of these players is what had us nearly relegated last season. They are just ineffective and not good enough. Likes of..

Sadly, I don’t see him as a strong winger for us or our future. I think this is a pure money decision by the club and the cheaper alternative to keeping Jonas. I think it’s a poor decision by the club, it’s leaders that dressing room is shouting out for and Jonas would of been a very valuable asset to the squad next season had he been kept on.

But, onwards and upwards and I wish Jonas all the best. He couldn’t of did any more for the club since his return I thought he was brilliant. It was good to see that sort of effort and determination in a black and white strip again.

On Jonas, he was mishandled by AP and the club, great that he leaves in glory. Used to be my favourite player, was either pardewed or just lost his sharpness.

On Sammy, top prospect who could become an amazing player – or not. Glad whomever makes decisions reads my comments and decided to accept my recommendation to keep him.

Jimmysmith summarised his potential well. My emphasis on the word potential. He could become better than Pogba, given his physical attributes. Then again, he could not, it’s a decent gamble though. The new coach will be interested to see him.

Our club wat it lacks is communication. Other clubs have managers and owners who talk abt everything even wat they had at breakfast.
Mike, Charlady and Carr are so quite so all we have to wait for is action. Coz I bet we will get alot from those guys.

Another snide dig at AP Cyprus.
You’re a bit behind the times though with your use of the word ‘pardewed’.
What it means following the 2014/2015 season is the inspired form of the likes of Zaha,Bolasie,Glen Murray,Puncheon, and Scott Dann down at Palace during the second half of the season.

Patience required at this moment. The season has just been finished. They probably need at least a week break.Fans are desperate, including me,to see the next change, especially on the head coach position. However, they made good start early on by releasing our agey players. The worst thing that will happen to see is JC will still be here one way or..

i think he could make it as a decent footballer seen glimpses of raw talent, can get down line and pulls a mean low cross back – BUT has got to get his lazy side/switching off side out of his game. Needs NEW COACHES to take him to one side and have a word with him because it looks like he ain’t listening to our coaches.

As for releasing JONAS again Ashley is a PR disaster – should of kept him for a year put him through his coaching badges if that what he wants as he could of been a role model/inspiration for the younger players like SAMMI
