Newcastle Want To Sign Young Dutch Sensation

There is a report that Newcastle are interested in signing 21 year-old Feyenoord winger Jean-Paul Boetius, who joined the Dutch club when he was just six years old back in 2000.

The talented winger picked up his first and only cap so far for Holland last year in March, in a friendly game against France at the Stade de France in Paris.

Jean-Paul Boetius – 21 year-old Feyenoord winger

Newcastle probably hope to get a good deal on the youngster, since his contract runs out next summer.

He has played 96 times for Feyenoord over the last three seasons, with 20 goals and 17 assists. and he has played 26 times with four goals (combined) for the Holland U17, 19 and U21 sides.

Newcastle have already signed Gini Wijnaldum from PSV ten days ago, and we now have five Dutch Internationals in the squad, and if we can sign this promising young winger then that will make it six.

Jean-Paul plays on the left wing and he is valued at around €5M (£3.5M) on the transfermarkt.com web-site.

It may be that Newcastle have turned their attentions to the 21 year-old, after missing out on long term target 22 year-old Florian Thauvin of Marseilles.

Newcastle have been unable to agree a fee for the talented Frenchman with his French club, and may have decided to move on.

In March, north London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal were both said to be anxious to sign the Dutch international, who can also play on the right side, and the fee at that time was said to be £5M.

The report of Newcastle’s interest is in GOAL,  so we don’t know how accurate the story is – but Chief Scout Graham Carr has been scouting in Holland last season.

We cannot find any reports in Holland or in England on Newcastle’s interest in this player – so maybe take it with a pinch of salt.

But after signing Mitrovich today – even if Tottenham and Arsenal are interested and we are really keen on the 21 year-old – Newcastle could still be in with a chance of getting him to Tyneside.

Here’s some video on the player they call the young sensation.

Slow day at work so watched a video of Mitrovic on Youtube. The scout nation one.

It says his weakness is his work rate. Hmm…

    expat,

When we bought him from Utd a lot of my mates who support Man Utd were quite annoyed he had been sold & sorry to see him go. He did quite well actually before he joined us.

I think he has something as well but still, I’ll never forget that breakaway where it was 3 on 1 & he squared it straight into the keeper’s gloves.

Hahahaha. Expat have you bee on the sherry.
-in form, injury free Obertron powering down the wing putting crosses in.
You then ask -can you imagine it.
Well quite frankly NO and NO and NO.

If Obertron and Willo had continual coaching from the worlds best coaches it would not improve them. Some players may be “rescued” but not Obertron and Willo.
Give ya bonce a shake man!

After signing Wijnaldum Mitrovic and Mbemba. Any other signing is a bonus.

I wld go for Abdennour and Austin. Keep Cise, Tiote and Colo. Make Perez a winger.

I would get rid of Cisse – whilst he’s scored some good goals he’s missed many more.
He cannot hold the ball up at all, he cannot dribble and the only scoring he’s doing at the moment occurs off the field. Time to move him on.
In respect of Mr T. I would keep him -Wally may be able to get a bit more out of him. Stop his pirouettes and possession losing when he has his back to the opposition and he could regain his destroyer title.
We still need at least 2 quality players this window to form the basis of a team. When that is achieved I’m sure those “wanting” will be replaced.
Trying to right years of neglect, poor management/coaching will not happen overnight.

Obertan is a poor imitation of a winger, I’ve never known someone with so much pace be so shy in taking a player on. Time after time he’ll take 2 steps forward and then pass it back. He prefers low drilled crosses, all in all he’s distinctly average and no doubt on decent money so get rid in my opinion.

The season we finished 5th it was Jan when we really kicked on amd that was thanks to the return of HBA in the team at the expense of Obertan. Cisse, HBA and Cabaye were outstanding during that period.

I disagree regarding Cisse, all strikers miss chances and agreed cisse doesn’t offer much other than goals but the most important thing is goals. I’d take Cisse’s attributes over Riviere all day long.

I dont think we need to sell all the players especially the ones we have been seeing as the dependable ones like Cisse, Colo, Taylor and Cheick. If we keep them there will b competition for places and an improvement in the squad.

Sell the deadwood of Elliot, Willo, Marvuex, Vuckic(kid is way below e pecking order)

Really like the look of this player and he would be fairly cheap worth a punt
Obertan ain’t that bad chaps he skins players with his pace someone just needs to teach his how to cross the ball higher than 1ft off the floor and to not be scared of putting his foot into a challenge and to maybe not leave the ball behind when dribbling at speed ok maybe he ain’t good lol Obertan out!
Williamson well think everyone has said everything already we should just give him away for free maybe a pub team or something

    Our Toon.

The time we finished fifth every one contributed. We jst had a bad November and part of December. it was a balanced team with few injuries. Guthrie, R. Taylor, Willo and Perch came in as Back up when required and did their part.
Obertan was ok in the first half of e seasonbut wen Hatem came he was so superb.

I would give Riviere one last chance – well up to the start of the season. Obertron is fast but it’s usually without the ball -he’s scored only 6 league goals from Bordeaux to here in 9 years- even taking into account his time off with injury -poor return. He’s also renowned for not wanting to put his head in.
Unless Wally can find a better way of playing Cisse/getting him involved more I would sell him as overall he does not contribute much to the team.

Haidara having a good this pre-season so far and but is he up there with quality we need?

Janmaat, Cresswell, Clyne, Baines, Coleman, Jenkinson, Bertrand and so on.

I would say not yet but he’s got potential to be.

Well old mate. That is why I am do knowledgeable about football and a half decent coach who can spot ability in a player a mile away and you can only live on past memories of being a thug of a centre half with the skill factor of a gnat……lol

I saw enough in those few games last season that if coached and managed properly, Obertan could prove to be a very hood asset offensively for the team.

As you well know, defenders fear fast wingers who can get decent service into forwards. Both Aarons and Obertan are well capable but both seem to have confidence issues. That is where a good manager with a decent knowledge of psychology comes in.

I had an issue similar to this with a reserve player at my club a few years ago. I saw his potential, gave him the self confidence to perform and in the space of one season, turned him into the best player in the league. I can see McLaren and Co. doing this with Obertan which those previous dinosaurs in charge were unable to see or do.

Never under estimate the power of psychology in football.

Really he contributed the most important thing of all and that was goals
I agree he ain’t the best but he has a nack for getting goal when playing really badly so I think he could still come good personally

Love the comment that Obertan is a good squad player. Problem is top 6 teams dont have squad players. They have good players fighting for games.
As for Jail For Ashley comment, Marveaux was never given a chance. He was lining up behind Cabaye and Barfa. He’s decent and will show it when he gets the chance
