This season is turning out to be an even worse season for injuries for Newcastle than last season and that was one of the worst we’ve seen in a long long time.
Vurnon Anita was taken off with a hamstring problem in the first half and after the game Steve McClaren has said it looks like a bad one.
Vurnon Anita – taken off with a hamstring problem
And according to Physioroom.com Newcastle continue at the top of the injury league with 11 players out injured with Rob Elliot is also down as being sick.
We don’t seem to have done anything about finding out we pick up so many injuries each season and this could be a factor that could help see us relegated this season.
Steven Taylor is due back fairly soon from his hamstring problem which has kept him out since the end of August.
And Cheick Tiote came in for Vurnon Anita but he is one yellow card away from getting a one game suspension.
The injuries are starting to really affect the teams Newcastle can put out this season.
Here is the current Injury league with one point awarded every time a player is not available for a PL game because of injury.
We won the injury league easily last year and are well on our way to doing the same thing this year.
This is another way in which the club is being very poorly run.
Comments welcome.

Comment #1I think he does Ron Knee mate. He only cares about a few things as far as the club is concerned. That is the advertising he gets from the televised Prem games, and the TV money. Those two facts are all he cares about. To get both he must keep us in the Prem. He won’t care whether we’re 17th or 7th as long as we stay up. He will panic spend in January as he has done previously. But the club means little to him other than advertising.

Comment #3Here you go Lilo, as close as I can (be bothered) to McClaren’s words. I’d rather have missed them and had a few bevvies down the pub though.
“I thought we started ever so well”
“I think the ref got the decision wrong about the penalty”
“A lot of effort, great attitude” about last 2 games
“We need all the squad, we’re getting thin……If we keep showing that fight, that attitude……. if we keep it up we’ll be ok”
“I think we’ve been very unlucky in the last 2 game, the performances are there”
“We’ve got another half a season to go, we’ve had the first half, was disappointing, the second half we want to be better”

Comment #7Pathetic excuses from McLaren but the real culprit is Ashley. He has brought a culture of incompetence to the club and the lackeys he has hired demonstrate that. Fools who no other club would have. Who would hire Charnley? What has McLaren done in England since his Middlesbrough days? He is perfect for Ashley. Completely useless and full of excuses just like Ashley himself.

Comment #9Not sure what Schteve was smoking, started well, we’ll be okay if we show effort … man we need a CB, a striker and a creative mid immediately – desperately need to unload some of the worse players we’ve had in our prem history

Comment #10Manx – not suggesting anything but as the IOM is relatively quite small and most folk know each other, did you know Ray Teret – he was from the IOM. (he was Jimmy Savilles driver).

Mitro worst on the park? Far from the best, but the only good attacking play was through him. Once again we leave him high and dry by creating nothing for him.
Mac,
Laughable. There was little to praise. We played into their hands by narrowing the pitch. If he can’t see that, and admit mistakes, time has to be up. Sadly, nobody on the board has the knowledge to say he got it wrong, except maybe McClaren, who isn’t likely to advocate his own sacking….

I feel your pain.
But the crowd turning on McClaren is just what will happen if things don’t improve.
You were right earlier. We have got here by design, trimming, trimming, trimming until now each season is now a game of Russian Roulette.
Each spin of the chamber has brought us closer to the day it the gun pointing at our heads inevitably goes bang instead of click.

Comment #19west brom had 22 shots today- an average of around a shot against us every 4 minutes.
the main problem in my view is the midfield. anita and colback just not good enough. sissoko can be unstoppable, but is inconsistent; wiji is either amazing or entirely absent. would love to see him as a number 10 just behind mitro or perez.

Comment #20Our defence is actually looking strong for once the midfield is the shocking part but what change is there to make a difference
maybe thauvin in and sisko or wij in the middle but that doesn’t give me any confidence either we need to make up for shocking investment in previous season’s and quick!

Comment #22Shteve watched a different game to me today, the only thing he got right in the interview was the pen, we should have got one.
footballing wise, Jesus man, its Pulis, he is going to go for free kicks corners and long throw ins into the box, you have to play high up the pitch against them and play in there half.
i thought he got the team all wrong today, he should have rested 1 or 2 players, instead he played right into there hands…..
my only logical explanation for these games is for Ashley to get his hand in his pocket in jan, but we all know if he is to do that , it will be at the end off the month, not the beginning…..

West Brim had 22 shots? If that is correct that is a hell of an improvement on their average this season, 8.9 per match, the only club lower than ourselves with 9.1 per match prior to today.

Comment #25So how many games do we judge McClaren after? After it’s too late or do we just hope and prey he’ll surprise us all?
Unsurprising it’s looking like same old, same old again under McClaren and as long as Ashley remains can we see it changing? These last two games to me highlight how poor a tactician/manager/coach he actually is.
I wish there were someone there to stand up to the owner and tell him what a mess he’s making/made of our club but we all know it’ll be a pointless exercise for many reasons. Just ask Ochytoon.

Comment #26Manx…you are so one dimensional in your critique. You think by removing Ashley everything will be all right! And can it not be done then by all means have the likes of Charnley, McClaren and Carr screw it up even worse!
If you haven’t noticed yet this club has multiple problems and there is not just one cure.

Comment #27Think the window opens on Friday – so it will be interesting what happens.
Will anybody decent sign die to our lowly position?
What will be the standard of those we do sign?
Will the signings be the missing jigsaw pieces?
I think we’ll finally be able to judge the clubs intent during this next window – Tubbs is running out of time to deliver on his “Promises”.

Have you forgotten all the Ashley out protests we’ve had over the years? I seem to remember a lot of them and I also remember that they achieved absolutely nothing. So what’s the point in getting on Ashley’s back for the umpteenth time. It doesn’t bother him and only creates a hostile and negative environment which we really don’t need atm
