Newcastle Reported After Championship Center-Back

If Newcastle are to have any chance to stay in the Premier League this season after the worst year in Newcastle´s long  history finally came to an end a couple of days ago – we have to somehow sign some good players in this January transfer window – otherwise we will become a Championship club in May.

And there´s a strange report in The Telegraph that Newcastle are considering making a move for Hull City center-back Michael Dawson.

Michael Dawson – Hull City

The 32 year-old is way past hos best and Sir Bobby Robson was interested in signing him when he was still a youngster at Nottingham Forest over 10 years ago – but he finally ended up at Tottenham in 2005 before joining Hull in 2014.

Although Dawson is a player with lots of Premier League experience we would be very surprised if Newcastle are really interested in signing Dawson.

It looks more like a move to bolster our squad for a possible promotion bid from the Championship next season than a move to survive in the Premier League this season.

As we said we would be very surprised if this report in The Telegraph has any truth to it.

Hull are also 3rd top of the Championship, so why would they want to sell their club captain in January when massive money will be available to them next season if only they can get promoted back to the Premier League?

Be more interested in Curtis Davies from Hull, knows the league and has abit of pace…

Ever since Davies got injured, Hull didnt look half as solid.
Dawson was poor last season when i saw him.

Why get rid of Williamson then. Another stupid story drummed up by sports journo’s. It wouldn’t exactly advertise any ambition going for championship players. The only way for Newcastle to show intent is to hire a manager of high reputation which on its own would show ambition.

Pointless rather keep Williamson if he’s not good enough for Spurs why should we have him rather go for Lewis dunk from Brighton
