According to RMC in France, Newcastle are in active negotiations to tie up a six month loan deal for Loic Remy, but former Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is also thought to be interested in taking the French International to Crystal Palace on loan.
Loic has already showed on a season long loan from 2013-2014 that he can score goals for Newcastle – with 14 Premier League goals in 26 league appearances for the Magpies.
Loic Remy – while on loan at Newcastle
However, the worrying news is that the 29 year-old has asked for a week to consider the move – and that may be a ploy to allow Alan Pardew time to move in and sign the striker on loan for Palace.
Loic has never been able to break into the first team at Chelsea since he signed for them in the summer of 2014 after failing a medical in Boston for Liverpool.
Remy is very keen to get regular playing time so he has a chance of making the French squad for the Euro 2016 Championships in June.
But it could be a huge blow to the Magpies if Loic chooses Palace over Newcastle.
How low can you go?
That would be similar to the striker choosing QPR three years ago when the London club were bottom of the league and after a verbal agreement had been made that he would sign permanently for Newcastle in an £8M deal.
QPR were relegated in 20th place that season and then Newcastle took Loic on loan for the next season, but at the end of that season we couldn’t persuade him to sign for us.
We still hope Newcastle can get Loic in on loan – he could literally save us with his goals.
Hopefully, Newcastle have made a good offer for the French International.
Comments welcome.

Comment #41Optimistic – shows how much I know or can remember !
Remy on loan looks like an attempt to avoid signing Austin – could be a disaster if both elect to stay in London. If neither come to Toon and Arma stays in Coventry just who the hell will we sign up front ?
That apart Shelvey is a must.

I’d take Shelvey in a heart beat, Remi maybe on a I loan but I’m unsure if I really want him back.
Wouldn’t have Austin, to like Mitro and to injury prone.

Comment #52If Ashley wants the club to stay up he needs to have a better plan than just loaning remy. They need to have a number of plans for at least 4 to 6 players in each. If I was planning our survival I’d bank on getting 5 of these: shelvey, austin/remy and carroll, ever banega, Redmond, Vestergaard, jonas hector, szsezny however you spell it, Redmond, fabien schar, bas dost, granit xhaka, lacazette. How the hell can’t they pull their finger out and get them in. Incompetent the lot of them.

Comment #54Well all this London talk that’s why a megabucks Foreign investor has not come in for NUFC. The North East is “unfashionable”Can’t understand it 52000 punters every other week go to watch a load of donkeys run round a field .They couldn’t go wrong but regrettably that’s what we need to turn us back into a great club – Mega bucks (10x what Cashley will ever have)

Comment #56If I’m honest I think out of all the teams Remy could go to, I think he would choose Newcastle.
Stopped laughing yet!
Here me out, if Remy came here and scored loads of goals for us he will always be in the media here and being talked up a lot, he would have a better chance for playing for France through media with us than finishing 6th say with Palace.
Some may say well he could score loads with Palace, yes, but the media here would make out that Remy alone saved us from relegation which he can’t from Palace.

Comment #57All we are looking at is injury prone players, guys who can’t get into other Prem first teams & loan signings. Now is that a forward looking club.?
Carroll on loan with option to buy if we stay up
Shelvey on loan with option to buy if we stay up
Townsend on loan with option to buy if we stay up
Remy on loan with option to buy if we stay up.
But where is FB, CB or midfield playmaker.
It was said we need to add 3 but we need at least 7 & shed 7 duffers

Comment #66JIB London mate – that’s where they all want to be.
Perhaps it’s time for the Premier League to throw open clubs to
franchises like the NFL American Football League. That would attract all the big investors : Coca Cola, Cadburys, Weetabix, Mars, Jaguar- yeah all the companies this country has let go into foreign ownership but at least they would be pumping money back into this country.

Perhaps you can answer this with your finance background. Ashley owns 100% of NUFC but only 60+% of SD (?). Why wouldn’t he sell the advertising rights at SJP in the open market i.e. for their full market value? He gets the full benefit via the club that he wholly owns. Presently, unconnected SD shareholders are seemingly benefiting from the free advertising. There’s nothing in that for Ashley.

Put it another way. Ashley could ask SD to pay the full going rate. Perhaps a small % reduction. Mates rates. Why doesn’t he when he owns 100% of NUFC?

Comment #77Remy, a left back of equal quality, and a midfield of Tiote, Widj, and DeJong behind, and Sissoko and Perez working the flanks. Mitro, Anita, Colback on the bench, and there’s your better second half of the season, and platform to build on. De Jong deserves a genuine shot at a place, and he does have goals, in fact that side would have plenty of football and goals in it.

No quality player will sign a long term contact with us..we’re in relegation places.. Lone deal is the best way for them..and getting in players of quality of remy in, is the best the club can do at this time.. Thank god its euro season and everyone wants to play and prove themselves..

Comment #7960% of SD amounts to whole lot more than all of Newcastle Utd. So there’s real value to him personally in getting all that exposure from the advertising and he doesn’t have to sell it or justify it to shareholders. It’s a sweetener to them, a nice little perk for everyone, except us. And the problem for us can only get worse, as time passes, and other clubs gain the greater benefit of higher revenue streams by virtue of inflation, more investment in the game, and general growth, while we get nothing and the debt remains.
