Photos – Steve McClaren Arrives At Benton Today

Here are some photos taken this morning when Steve McClaren – who is still the head coach at Newcastle until he´s told something different by Lee Charnley – arrived at the Benton training ground to take training with the players, in preparation for the game at Leicester City on Monday night.

It continues to be a bizarre situation and more shoddy management at Newcastle.

According to local reports, Charnley has said nothing to Steve since the 3-1 defeat against Bournemouth on Saturday.

How´s that for good communication with your employees?

No-one forced Maclaren to take the job on 2 million a year…he like everyone before him knew exactly what they letting themselves in for.

    He has failed miserably.

He deserves nothing but ridicule and contempt for the way he’s guided that team to the verge of relegation.

You and I could have done as badly as him being paid a tenth of the money.

He is the worst manager we’ve ever had…don’t feel sorry for him.

    I’m getting in the mood.
Perhaps the lads down aThe Strawberry could start to think about ( but no hurry as Chanley is making the decisions ) the new sign La Fresa if Benitez arrives in town.

In the meantime just brushing up on the lingo.

On Tufty running this week’s training sessions.
Allegedly he still has to “prepare” the team” despite the leaked news he is for the chop, but with Charnley still on his side.
The point I made yesterday was that getting McLaren to take a meaninlgess training session was an embarassment on all sides, a pointless exercise (like so mnay of our last 28 matehes), pisspoor man management and done ONLY to allow Penfold more time to obfuscate and procrastinate.
Regardless of how we feel about Tufty, the guy above him is prepared to see him humiliated and diminished simply to protect himself. This total lack of respect just shows up Penfold’s management style and says a lot about the man’s character – and very poorly too imo. He’s using Tufty as cover. Third rate is being generous. No wonder he can’t get the best out of people. MD’s are supposed to have leadership qualities. Penfold has none. Clueless.

    Odds slashed on Benitez.

Im the first to doubt this means anything, but what would drive people to place a bet if they have as much info as us lot at this moment in time?

or is it just the bookies driving business during one of the most unpredictable seasons in recent memory??

Eventually all orginisations/companies begin to reflect the mindset of there owners. Ashley has no dignity or class and only contempt for his employees and customers. His treatment of the law of the land from a previous post, the Stock Exchange zero hours contracts terms of employment etc all prove this . To be part of his inner circle Im sure you have to sign up to some Faustian pact Until he sells up and goes nothing will change. All else is just hot air and wishful thinking Rafa or no Rafa

Has Steve been banned from driving? 🙂

Nothing quite like being chauffeur driven to your own funeral. All that’s missing is the box.

Well SSN have just been live from Benton and pretty much nothing new was said. The only piece of information that was of interest was the pre-match presser scheduled for tomorrow is now apparently postponed – how true that is I don’t now, because Thursday seems a little early to have that for Monday game. Suppose we’ll see if Ranieri does his tomorrow. Could be the biggest indication that he will be leaving…… eventually.

From previous, I hope you’re right but there’s nothing in Ashley’s nine year tenure that gives me any hope he’ll do what’s best for the club, he’ll do what’s best for him and his main buisness.

If I was Benitez I’d tell Ashley to fcuk off, even if I was offered the job today I’d tell him to fcuk off, after punching him in the mouth!

    Ashley out.

How does McLaren build up the players for Monday night against the league leaders no less knowing the weight of public opinion and total lack of confidence in the players is against him?

I fear that the best Bishop can do is tell everyone to keep their mouths shut and away from the media until further notice while the inept buffoons at the ‘top’ fumble and fudge their way to another cack-handed ‘decision’.

I can only hope the time elapsed is indication of the Major Shareholder going through the motions of declaring the Board as not fit for purpose and assembling a new one (him) to get some emergency consultation together and yes, somebody with management and not just coaching experience, to pull the coaching apparatus together in time for the derby, which we have to win.

Goldmemba- nufc may not be his first love, but he needs to make sure it isn’t about to implode and sink with his ‘free loan’ aboard. I think he will be on the other end of the line for the duration.

I have to say I agree with ILOVETOON, whatever you think of McClaren it is disgraceful the way the club are treating him just keeping hanging. Why don’t they just sack him and install one of the coaches as caretaker head coach until a new manager is recruited.

Macnasty is giving it 100 per cent I’ve no doubt about it, but those players are not playing for him, as usual he will wait to be sacked, as he normally does, twenty wolfsburg Notts Forrest derby!!!!

I think we all get the picture don’t we, what the hell was he doing here in the first place, if it’s down to Charnley then he also surely has to get out of toon as well.

SMC can not be blamed for turning up to fulfill hs contracted role. Penfold had a lack of intelligence and is yet again operating below the standard required, if they are not preparing to replace the Head Coach then address the situation as everything is far from normal at the moment. No doubt SMC will be inundated with questions about the club at tomorrows press conference and they will not be able to limit the conversation to Leicester away.

Put SMC on enforced sickness leave until next Tuesday, would at least be better than the very odd situation we have currently.

Since the Business Committee said it would like to hear from Ashley over how he runs Sports Direct, the proprietor, who also owns Newcastle United, countered their offer by inviting MPs for a tour of his Shirebrook, Derbyshire warehouse.

However, Iain Wright MP, chairman of the committee said today the invitation was not in line with the committee’s “commitment to transparency”.

    More Parliamentary bullshit and obfuscation.
