21 year-old Tenerife striker Nano has been linked with Newcastle with about about four other strikers, and Rafa Benitez will sign at least one experienced striker and maybe one more this summer.
That experienced striker will not be Nano, but if Rafa decides to bring him to Newcastle, he will be one for the future and the last player we signed from Tenerife two years ago – Ayoze Perez – has been a big hit on Tyneside.
Tenerife striker Nano – full name Alexander Mesa Travieso
So it wouldn’t surprise us too much if Nano arrives on Tyneside sometime this summer, but the Newcastle manger’s major priority is to bring in a recognized striker who can score goals for us in the Championship.
That’s in addition to an experienced center-back to strengthen the defense and maybe a full back too.
Nano had a decent season last term in the Spanish second division scoring 14 goals in 35 appearances – and the youngster is willing to move if the offer is both good for him and good for his club.
This is what he has said to AS in Spain:
“If there’s any offer that can help benefit myself and the club, then we can sit down and talk.”
Other clubs besides Newcastle interested in signing Nano are Granada, Betis Seville, Deportivo and Sporting Gijon, but Newcastle could easily come up with the best offer in terms of the transfer fee and personal terms for Nano.
That’s if Rafa really wants the 21 year-old Spaniard on Tyneside.
What do you think?

Comment #1It’s a definite sign of getting old when the missus goes out and you really don’t care where she’s going as long as you don’t have to go too
betty, truer words were never typed… mine is in Florida starting today thru next week… I plan on sitting on my ass and watching euros all weekend, without doing dishes lol

Comment #2Not too fussed on this lad is rather give Armstrong ago ahead of him at this point
Also not fussed about Abied (a link I doubt has legs tbh) would rather look at the lads at Leeds (Cook and Mowatt) or Derby (Thorne and Hughes) If we want centre of the park
