Rafa Benitez has just announced the starting line-up for our first friendly game of preseason against Bohemian FC this afternoon and Rafa has Jamaal Lascelles captaining the side.
Newcastle United (4-2-3-1): Matz Sels; Jamie Sterry, Chancel Mbemba, Jamaal Lascelles (c), Vurnon Anita; Henri Saivet, Jack Colback; Matt Ritchie, Yoan Gouffran, Rolando Aarons; Aleksandar Mitrovic
Substitutes: Karl Darlow, Daryl Janmaat, Jesus Gamez, Paul Dummett, Isaac Hayden, Chieck Tiote, Jonjo Shelvey, Georginio Wijnaldum, Florian Thauvin, Ayoze Perez, Dwight Gayle
Notice that the subs is a whole new team so maybe Rafa will use all subs at the start of the second half – strength in depth there!
As expected Newcastle fans will get their first look at Matz Sels in goal this afternoon and he could become Newcastle’s number one this season and it’s good to see young local lad Jamie Sterry get a start at right back.
And Henri Saivet will get a chance in central midfield for a change along with Jack Colback; fringe player Yohan Gouffran also gets a run-out.
It’s an interesting side and we expect Rafa to make a number of changes at half time to give as many players as possible a run-out in Newcastle’s first friendly of this preseason.
And as we said earlier the subs look like another complete side tat could come in for the second half.
Here’s the list of Newcastle’s preseason friendlies which will start to come thick and fast now.

Comment #5A lot of people seem to have the opinion that Rafa is some sort of wheeler dealer business man. I wouldn’t have thought he has ever personally handled a transfer in his life.

Comment #8Sutty – you’ll upset the Rafa biographers on here who appear to know him better than their grannies. The new breed of Rafa biographers were all recently Wally Brolly men – you wouldn’t think it from what they write.
I suspect he’ll do the PR/get them interested bit and Penfold/Club lawyer will do the rest.
But others will probably think he does the lot.

You haven’t got anything about getty’s images do you? I unknowingly put some gettys images on my website and they now want £1400 off me!! There was no copyright ot watermark on them at all.
They’d stung me previously and they accepted full and final payment against any future claims against me. This time I thought we had removed all the images but there were still a couple on a pdf on the website that they hadn’t previously flagged. Lots of threatening emails, really not nice people.

I had a similar issues a number of years ago. I came across this post online which maybe helpful. I think it was USA based post but worth a look:
Hey everyone, first of all i dont condone using other peoples photos/images without permission.
I’ve had the same experience myself and my client got a letter some time last year at the beginning of 2006, so i thought i’d share my experience with you all.
At the time my client recieved the invoice from Getty, i preformed a search on Google and found a forum where hundreds of people left messages saying they too had got the letter. Alot of whom had got the letters in 2005. It was very interesting to read the tactics Getty had used to try and get them to pay. Some had even got to the stage where Getty had hired a debt repossession company to ring them and demand the money “or else”.
For those of you who dont know, a bailiff or debt repossession company cant legally take anything off you, (if you dispute the invoice) and they haven’t got permission off the courts.
So anyone who calls you or sends a letter threating for money, advise that you stongly dispute the invoice and any further communication should be sent to you in writing or to your laywer, and that you have no further comment.
It is worth noting, that no one on that forum had been taken to court. Although alot of people had simply ‘given in’ and paid the ransom…….
……I signed up the help of a Solicitors this time last year, (i got their number off that forum i was reading), they had actually been helping loads of other people with Getty Invoices for a while and had sent loads of legal letters off to Getty, and in that time, none of their clients had been taken to court of had further action brought against them.
I would now like to post up that letter they sent to Getty (It cost me £50 !)

Your reference ***********
Dear Sirs,
Re: Our client *********
We refer to your letter to our client regarding reference ******** dated the April 2007. Please note our instructions in this matter and address all further communications to us.
Our client confirms the photographic images referred to in your above reference (“the image”) have been used by our client on their website www.*********.com. We are, however, unable to comment on your client’s ability to assert copyright in the image or take action for infringement having been provided with no evidence as to ownership or exclusive licence.
Our client does not admit liability, and immediately removed the images from their web site upon receipt of your letter and confirms they will not use the images in the future. The images were provided to our client by a 3rd party, who also asserts rights to these images.
The images were therefore provided to our client in circumstances where they did not know, and had no reason to believe that copyright subsisted or was asserted by Getty as copyright was asserted as being owned by another party. The images provided to our client did not contain the Getty logo or any other source information. There is certainly no flagrancy as to our client’s intent which was entirely innocent.
Under Section 97 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (“the Act”) there is no entitlement for the claimant to recover damages where the defendant did not know, and had no reason to believe that alternative copyright subsisted in the work. Your claim for a royalty payment under a notional licence agreement described as a demand for payment is a claim for damages and as such would, in our opinion, fail.
You therefore have no grounds for claiming entitlement to payment whatsoever.
Should your company commence proceedings on the grounds outlined in your previous correspondence we reserve the right to refer to this letter on the question of costs and would hope this will now end the matter. As previously indicated, our client has removed “the images” and undertakes not to use the images at any time in the future, this action was taken despite our client not being provided with any evidence of ownership or exclusive licence by you but is of the opinion that there is contested ownership which is outside his concern.
Yours sincerely
It has now been over 1 year since that letter was sent, and we’ve heard nothing else since.
This proves that they are after easy pickings, and they hope most people will fall at the first hurdle and give in, and pay up.
If you 100% did not steal their images, then follow the advice of others and….
1) Immediately remove the images from your website
2) prevent the archive.org bot from accessing your website (and thus remove your site from the archive.org index)
3) Dispute the invoice & send them a letter (similar to mine above)
4) Ignore all future phone calls and letters (do not respond) [unless they are from the courts]
5) If any bailiffs calls you, “Advise you strongly dispute the invoice and want all further communication in writing”
6) Do not worry, they are trying to scare you into paying.
7) Did i mention “don’t worry” ?
