Rafa Benitez’ Message To Newcastle Fans

There’s still some uncertainty surrounding Newcastle’s squad, with Gini Wijnaldum expected to sign for Liverpool today and wantaway Moussa Sissoko reporting back on August 1st and making it very clear he wants to leave Newcastle just as soon as he can possibly can.

Rafa has a message today for the fans that he wants to get things sorted at Newcastle just as soon as possible.

But these transfers out are not really in his control and he has said all summer if Newcastle’s valuations are met for certain players they will be sold.

Rafa Benitez – wants squad sorted as soon as possible

Gini will leave the club today  and Moussa will almost certainly also leave and the only other player who may move on is Daryl Janmaat.

That’s if a club comes in with a £10M bid for him – which is now likely given the way some Premier League clubs are spending money this summer like it’s going out of style.

This is what Rafa said today as he tries to get things under control just as soon as possible:

“We want to finish getting the squad together as quickly as possible,”

“Then we can start thinking about what we want to do with the team. You want your team to be sorted as soon as possible.”

“But at the moment, we are still having to wait and see what is going to happen with a few things.”

“Little by little we are getting there though, and we will soon be at a point where we have to start finalizing the team that will play against Fulham.”

“Soon, we will have to be saying, ‘OK, this could be the team that starts’.”

“Sissoko will report back like everybody else has, and then we will go from there.”

“We will see him on the first of August, but until then it is not really worth talking about anything because he is not here.”

Rafa still wants to bring in another striker and maybe a defender and midfield player – and he will replace Gini and Moussa Sissoko too – if the boastful Frenchman does leave the club.

I see that Zonal marking : Man marking, is for some an issue after a second friendly game. Given changing personnel, on and off the field, we do not need to panic. Just leave it to the professional as there is a change of guard at the toon.

Benitez at Liverpool favoured zonal marking. When the ball goes in against zonal marking its because a player hasn’t done his job properly just like with man marking. I remember a discussion on MNF a while ago and Gary Neville saying that man marking was the only system employed in his time at ManU. Whilst Carra was a big fan of Zonal marking and pointed out the tendency for the so called Billy big bollox fans to always highlight when the ball goes in against zonal marking.

Let’s leave Rafa to sort out the defence and not on the basis of the Doncaster second goal feel we need a major rethink.

There was a stage (I’m straining the memory banks here) when Liverpool under Rafa conceded an alarming number of goals from corners and that was blamed on his zonal marking system.
But then he bought Daniel Agger and the leakages stopped

With the transfers, I believe Charnely and Rafa know what they are doing. I have no Comment.
So far with what I have seen:

    1. I believe Janmatt will leave.
    2. Perez is the all same player he is better impact player
    3. Arma has good runs and a very good No. 10
    4. Mitro is suspended.
    4. Hayden is good was impressed but he isnt better than Tiote. If Tiote leaves then he will be good to go.
    5. Colback we have a balance wen he is in the team

Ed – Your last sentence suggests there are still five players to come into the club. Are you sure we can do that in time for the season start?
Having said that with Gini and Sissoko going we MUST buy a good quality midfield creator. If anything’s a priority that has to be.
Have to say also I’m still worried about our goalkeeping situation. Don’t think anyone of the squad we have (including the new signing) are the quality we need.
There are some really good keepers out there who could have been bought for peanuts. Victor Valdes for free – now that would have been nice.
