Newcastle Star Finally On His Way – Deal Agreed

Football Italia are reporting today there are several Italian news outlets saying that Newcastle and Lazio have finally agreed terms for Florian Thauvin to join Lazio, after Newcastle turned down a bid from the Italian club only last Thursday.

The deal for Thauvin has been held up until Italian International winger Antonio Candreva finalizes his move out of the club and the reports coming from Italy is that he is expected to sign for Inter-Milan today.

Florian Thauvin – deal agreed to Lazio?

Thauvin and Tiote were the only two outfield players who didn’t get a game yesterday and were unused subs in the 3-2 win over Vitesse.

And it’s interesting that Newcastle turned down bids for both players last Thursday.

The deal for the Frecnh U-21 International is a season long loan with the transfer becoming automatic once Thauvin has played a certain number of games for the Italian club.

If the financials have indeed been agreed, then that means the loan fee and the transfer fee have been agreed between the two clubs.

The terms of the deal that Newcastle turned down last  Thursday were thought to be a loan fee of at least £1M and the transfer fee was set at around £9M which will be triggered if he plays a certain number of games.

So presumably the terms are now better than that from a Newcastle perspective and we will get more than 10M for him now. after paying £13M a year ago when we bought him from Marseille.

If all this is true then Thauvin’s next move will be to have a medical.

Last Friday there was news that Thauvin’s agent Fabrizio Ferrari had arrived in Newcastle in a bid to close a deal to have his client move to Italian club Lazio, hopefully by the end of this coming weekend.

With this news today coming out of Italy that may even be possible.

Comments welcome.

Neither Cabella nor Thauvin were of the quality we needed, physically weak and prone to ending up on their backsides in most 50/50.
Knockaert however is a different kettle of fish, I honestly think with Rafa’s help he could have the kind of impact we saw with Ginola, Robert and HBA.

with Rafa I very much doubt that Thauvin will go unless we have signed Knockaert beforehand, that is how we now do it, make sure your fine before you release, professionalism for us should be the norm but it hasn’t been for so long, getting readjusted isn’t the easiest thing in the world to do.

When did Thauvin become a Newcastle star ?
Perhaps a hit-grabber for those who thought it was Moussa ?

I noticed on the last thread you left Isaac out of your line up.Who has been there or there abouts man of the match.
Think he looks a cert to start next Friday buddy.
You would hope Rafa has his fingers in many pies as the season looms large, Because I do believe we need more players on board

Jib- exactly..Newcastle star!?? Please! He’a barely played for us and has never shown his quality. Anyone is a star these days, does my head in that. Really hopw we get a strong and fast winger in ASAP. When we do we will be making the team stronger as we seemed to be very short on wingers last season as we never played Thauvin. Hope we replace Vuckic, Bigi and Sammy aswell.

No Anita in your team ? After his pre-season games, I’d have seen him as a nail on.

Is Knockaert faster than Thauvin? Has be got more pace as we still lack a bit in the team. Pace is a crucial ingredient to any team to be really successful these days. We seem to overlook it’s importance. I hope that changes with Rafa.

Spoof, can’t see Jesus starting at RB, don’t think he’s started there in any of the pre-season games. Got to be Janmaat.
Also Hayden looks like he’ll be a starter with either Colback or Shelvey.
I think Anita will continue on the RW until Sissoko is sold and his replacement purchased or Thauvin is sold and his replacement purchased or Wijnaldum’s replacement purchased.
Don’t think Aarons is going to be a starter unfortunately. Think Benitez will go for experience in “proper games

    Gael Bigirimana back to Coventry.
Haris Vuckic back to Slovenia – to Olympija Ljubljana.
Sammy has a lot of fans at Cardiff and could end up in Old South Wales.

I am hopeful the ‘best’ signing is still to come. Rafa appears keen to get the ones that want to leave sold and hopefully that will allow enough in the coffers to buy who he wants (yes I know we are in the championship )

I still think we have a decent team but teams will park the bus when they come to SJP so we need ‘THAT’ player who can make the difference.

No idea who though that’s Rafa’s job

I left him out for the sole reason that I have not seen him play, nothing more that that, mind that is possibly enough, for all I know he could be my great grandma reincarnate lol, I must admit that I have looked him up a bit and I was surprised as I was expecting a skinny little kid but from what I have seen he is a brick shit house, then again certain cameras can make the fatter look thin and vice versa.

Janmaat will not start, what has probably frustrated Rafa the most this summer is a lack of interest in the diabolical Janmaat, with Jesus in and the waste of space out with an extra few quid in the coffers Rafa would have been looking for a quick sale, sadly it seems that most football managers agree with us, Janmaat is shyte.

he fills in and does his best, his attitude is exemperlory, I can’t deny that, but he is a dreadful player, can’t pass forward, can’t defend, he can’t do anything well, but he can do a lot of things badly, but perhaps not as badly as some others could do, all teams have weakest links, you have to cover them with players who can hold there own, Anita can”t hold his own, he will be used as emergency backup only when we are deasperate.

Ed – no article on Shearer signing for us 20 years ago today? It was a pretty big day for the club and it’s supporters. It’s one I’ll never forget that’s for sure!

Private bet, I’ll give you odds of 6-1 that Gamez doesn’t start against Fulhan.

as for the rest of your predictions, yes, I wouldn’t/couldn’t disagree but with Gamez, he is a cert to start especially when we are away from home, keep it tight and compact, we all know that Rafa does exactly that and he will with Gamez.

Re your remark about Toney, he does seem to be the forgotten man in the club. Doesn’t even appear in the official team listings of the club. Bit of a mystery!

Thauvin showed flashes. And only fleeting flashes. English football too physical for his style of play. Will do well in Italy or Spain. If he doesn’t want to be here…let him leave.

Reckon he’d be good as an impact sub, running at a tred defence for the last 15 or 20 minutes of a game, but that’s it.
