Sky Sport Italia are reporting that Inter-Milan are in negotiations with Newcastle’s 27-year-old midfielder Moussa Sissoko.
Their prime target this summer is is 23 year-old Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Mario, but it seems the price of the Portuguese International has gone soaring up to €50M (£44.2M) and that has forced Inter to look to Sissoko.
Moussa is cheap at just £35M.
Moussa Sissoko is said to be unhappy at Newcastle
You would never have guessed
The report is that Newcastle and Inter are in negotiations for Sissoko as manager Frank de Boer’s ability to get Joao are looking a little dodgy.
There is still some hope for Inter however, because Mao is not in the Sporting Lisbon squad for the game at Pacos Ferreira tomorrow – and maybe that’s a sign that a breakthrough in the negotiations is close.
The Sky Italia report is that Sissoko’s agents are in Italy for talks with Inter on the potential move, but maybe the biggest stumbling block is the fee of £35M placed on him by Newcastle.
However, that fee may seem more reasonable than that for Mario and Sissoko certainly looked a better player than the Portuguese midfielder in the Euro 2016 play-off rounds.
Moussa has been wanting to leave Newcastle for at least a couple of years now.
And with Newcastle being relegated and Moussa having a couple of very good games for France in the Euro 2016 Championships in front of a worldwide TV audience, he and his agents see this as his big chance to play for a Champions League club.
Sissoko has also been linked with Juventus, but no move for him yet from the Italian Champions.

Comment #5We should go in for Charlie Austin, he’s going to struggle this season, haven’t heard his name since he’s come on in the 2nd half.

Comment #7Inter et al can negotiate with Sissoko till the cows come home. Unless they meet Rafa’s £35m, he’ll go nowhere – unless, and we can but hope, that they have.
