Three Dutchman Could Leave Newcastle This Month

Newcastle could lose three experienced Dutch Internationals before the end of this month.

There was news on Saturday that Daryl Janmaat could be leaving Newcastle with West Ham, Watford and Napoli all reported to be ready to bid for the 27 times capped 27 year-old Dutch International left-back.

While Daryl has been professional this season, he is still said to be undecided about whether he wants to stay at Newcastle and he has missed the last two games and wasn’t even in the squad for today’s 1-0 win at Bristol and didn’t travel with the team.

Daryl Janmaat – could be leaving

Daryl still has four years left of a six year lucrative contract he signed two years ago and if he did leave then Newcastle would want to at least recoup the £5M we paid Feyenoord for him.

And there was further news today that with Ajax goalkeeper and Dutch number one Jasper Cillessen joining Barcelona, the Dutch giants want Tim Krul as his replacement.

But Krul’s £60K/week wages could prove to be a problem to a move and Ajax would want Newcastle to pay some of those wages, perhaps as part of a loan deal.

Tim could prove his fitness this season after just recovering from his serious ACL injury.

But whether Tim would want to return to Holland after being in England for the last 11 years and playing in the Premier League for the last five years is debatable.

Middlesbrough and Everton could also be interested in Tim.

And it’s understood that Siem de Jong is close to a loan move to PSV, with Siem said to be undergoing a medical over the weekend before joining his brother Luuk at PSV for the season.

Newcastle have cover for all three players, but they are talented and experienced too.

If Newcastle have to reduce their wage bill further before the end of the month, then letting the three Dutchmen move permanently or on loan would certainly help with that.

Other players who could still move out include Emmanuel Riviere, Henri Saivet, Cheick Tiote, Yoan Gouffran and Moussa Sissoko.

Certainly it seems that Riviere, Saivet and Tiote are surplus to requirements this season.

Yoan had another good game for Newcastle today in the 1-0 win at Bristol City and we think he could do a good job for Newcastle this season.

Three new players are still expected to join Newcastle – with 20 year-old left-back Brendan Galloway expected in on loan from Everton and a striker and a winger also still wanted by Rafa.

The squad has changed dramatically this summer and the wages will be down significantly and the average age has been reduced too.

The squad we are left with in September is likely to be a strong one and young one.

It’s a squad that Rafa can then build on in the future – but the highest priority is to get promoted next May – that’s job one.

    Krul 60 grand a week ?

I think you have to wear each kit a certain amount of times. It’s one of the demands of the kit manufacturers.

It was a great finish by Gayle. Really pleased he’s got a few already, and the team is very much still in the early stages of development.

I’m really looking forward to Mitro being involved. Ritchie’s crosses are exactly what he’s not had last season. Him or Cisse.

If we can get another Ritchie-esq winger for the other flank, the possibilities for Mitro and Gayle will be exciting to watch.

Funny, before the start of last season I predicted that our next captain would be Dutch – Janmaat, Krul or de Jong. Talk about getting it wrong.

I notice Sels was booked. Presumably for handling the ball in the area. Only goalkeepers are allowed to do that. OK, I know it’s a bit premature for those jokes, but toon22 is on the money.

Toon Tang – in a word… NO! But I hope I’m wrong. Imagine a scenario of Newcastle winning the Premier League followed by England winning the World Cup the same year. I’d die a happy man.

Sels has been an absolute disaster so far. our defence will slowly start losing confidence in him and make more mistakes. we need Krul or Darlow in goal ASAP.

I don’t think we can underestimate the importance of yesterday’s away win, our first since, what looking back was a completely freak result against Spurs. Winning breeds confidence and hopefully this brand new team is starting to gel. Gone is your Collocini who took losing as matter of fact or Wijnaldum who just didn’t fancy it. We’re at last building a team with the right character that doesn’t involve being persuaded to come to get a better move.

    From ESPN
MF Georginio Wijnaldum, 4 — The Dutchman may as well have not been on the pitch at all. Didn’t do much wrong or right, just didn’t really do anything at all.

Jail@15 – I think what you say is right, and I think the mentality of being able to “win ugly” is important in the Championship. Would still like to see more genuine quality in the squad though, because you don’t want to have to do it the hard way week in, week out. You can’t knock the results of the last two games, but my impression is they have been games we’ve toughed out rather than won with really good football all over the pitch.

Deffo need the mentality to ‘win ugly’ in this division and first on my team sheet would be Goufran.

A player who goes unnoticed in the team but does the dirty/spadework – always available for a pass – gets stuck in and runs miles covering their players/runners gets tackles in – Maybe not a Premiership player but in this league type of player you need!

I agree that Sels is a bit worrying. Even his ‘Best of’ on YouTube isn’t exactly scintillating stuff.

What you and a few others have to understand is that it is more difficult to attract these quality players to the Championship, even Nugent and Lambert would be hard pushed to leave the comfort of a PL bench, and the other quality Championship players belong to clubs also eager to get their hands on the 135M pot of gold. Fostieri has been toild in no uncertain terms he will not be sold as has Knockeaert who seems to have some kind of weird freaky trait for a footballer called loyalty and seems to want to help Brighton get promoted.

    Regarding Sels

Almost every player needs time to adapt to a new league, and most especially for english football. Will reserve judgement on him for a while.

Maybe drop him for Darlow if he continues to have a shaky start in the short term.

The quality players that we desire to see playing for us will only be attracted to us in January. When we need to look like absolute certainties for promotion. No player with outstanding skills is going to join us in the last week of the transfer window, especially with 2 wins & 2 losses. No one likes uncertainty.

IMO Sels should start against Cheltenham, he should have nothing to do and it should provide a confidence boost. He needs more time to settle, which is not easy when the CD partnership keeps changing. I do believe Darlow would be better and would equally improve given games, but the Belgian is Rafas choice.

    Shouldn’t that be Dutch men?

Plus , Krul on 60k a week? Where did you get those numbers from?
