Clarification On Riviere’s Loan Deal To Osasuna

Some web-sites have Emmanuel Riviere’s contract down as just three years and running out next summer – and if that was the case then he would become a free agent next summer.

But it looks like that’s not true and when Emmanuel was signed it was stated that he was on a long term contract so that’s maybe five years.

Emmanuel Riviere – one year loan deal to Osasuna

This was brought to light today when Newcastle announced the loan deal of Riviere to Osasuna and the Spanish club have an option to buy at the end of the one year loan deal.

This is what Newcastle have put out on Riviere:

Newcastle United striker Emmanuel Riviere has joined Spanish side Osasuna on loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy.

The 26-year-old arrived on Tyneside from Monaco in July 2014 but has only made 31 appearances in all competitions since, scoring three goals, and hasn’t featured in competitive action since the beginning of March.

Riviere will now play for Los Rojillos, who are 14th in La Liga, for the remainder of the 2016/2017 campaign.

We have been thinking his Newcastle deal runs out next summer and that’s not accurate.

It makes it good for Newcastle that we may be able to claw back some of the £6M we paid out to Monaco for the striker two years ago.

Comments welcome.

If we got anything back for Riviere that would be a bonus.
Expected another Marveaux or Obertan situation where they just dwindle down there contract

I don’t think any of the several players linked with newcastle will come to anything…I reckon Rafa has a proper left left brilliant signing up his sleeve once he banks the 25 million for Moussa…someone no-one has picked up on.

He’s out the country supposedly on a coaching trip but reckon that’s bollox…he’s got a big signing up his sleeve!

Don’t bank on Sissoko to leave #NUFC for #THFC just yet. L’Equipe claim he’s in ‘advanced negotiations’ with #EFC.

Sissoko still has 3 years remaining on his contract. We hold the power, do not let him go for less than £25m+.

I just have a weird feeling that the late bid specialists , Liverpool , may come in last moment for Sissoko.

£10m plus for Hendrick, £13m for Mason, £24m for Marcos Alonso. #nufc within rights to demand £30m plus for Sissoko.

15m + McCarthy would be great.
The squad is so much deeper than last year, then we had to play wingers at full back position and kept hoping defenders would be fit to play soon.
