The fourth goal on Wednesday night scored by hero Dwight Gayle was the 21st goal scored in the league by Newcastle this season – the most in the Championship and one more than Barnsley have scored.
It was a good goal too from Dwight who got a hat-trick on the night and with more luck he could have had six!
But after he scored everything was a blur and when he was interviewed on nufcTV the interviewer said Dwight looked very cool before he had scored but Gayle said he felt anything but.

But he somehow got his shot off and it went past an unsighted goalkeeper and then bedlam broke loose at St. James’ Park.
It was a memorable ending to a game that will go down in the annals of Newcastle’s great history as one of our greatest ever comebacks.
Here’s some of what Gayle said about how he felt after he scored:
“Yeah I heard it, but, to be honest, at the end, everything was just a blur for me.” “Everyone was going mental.”
“We were all just going crazy together. Unbelievable.” “The noise was right up there with Wembley.”
“I don’t think you can get much louder than that, but I joined this club for moments like that.”
“You dream of scoring hat-tricks and scoring last-minute winners when you are young.”
“To do it in a game like that is mind-boggling, and I will never forget it.”
“I’m just concentrating on scoring goals for the team this season, and see what happens from there.”
“Hopefully, they’ll help us get promoted.”
Talking of promotion, next up is Rotherham away and we must get the win in that game.
There can be no let-down in this game, which could be a bit of a banana skin for Newcastle.
Comments welcome.

Comment #5Belfast – I haven’t been able to see Murphy play yet so I don’t know what he brings. Why would you prefer him over Mitro? What I like about Mitro is that he holds up the ball so well and presents great ball for the players around him.

You can join any renegade splinter bingo group you like, but you are now officially banned from the confirmed Rafa bingo line up bingo. As an organisation we cannot accept blacklegs and people who post before they are supposed to!!!

You can have any selection you like, just wait until Ed has posted his team and any thread after that two hours before kick off will get you a confirmed Rafa bingo line up.

Comment #10Belfast- You’re wasting your time with that one. You cannot make a crab walk straight. But just remember if he were to leave and come back by popular demand, well ……..!!

Comment #15Would love it if we pick up a cup somewhere along the line of this season. Think we can do it. Just any cup. Just to win something.
Would really improve morale.

Comment #16the u-23’s are playing swansea in the premier league cup this afternoon, would that do you?
I think we have a decent chance in the league cup, Preston up next & they aren’t exactly on top form right now. If we get passed them it’s going to get quite tough in the quarter finals onward

Comment #17You have to love Paul Merson
On his match predictor on SSN this morning he has us beating Rotherham 0 – 4.

Comment #18I think Rafa has to play his best team against Rotherham this weekend. No tinkering for the sake of it this time.
We have an International break coming up so the squad can all recover before we go at it again.
Would like to see Mbemba back for Clark and Hayden too. Really think Dummett has to start upping his game as Lazaar is probably itching to get on.
When you think we also have Atsu and Perez champing at the bit we should be OK this season.
Now’s the time to go to Rotherham and really make a statement to the rest of the League. We can’t go there thinking the job is already done after Wednesday nights heroics.

Paul Merson does champo predictions, too?
Mate his tips suck. Week in, week out, for 38 weeks of the season, he always goes for the big teams to win or the favourites.
Last season he predicted us to get hammered to chelsea, liverpool & tottenham & then to beat norwich (we lost 3-2), villa, bournemouth & watford
