Newcastle have been going through a bad patch recently and we have won only four of our last 10 games in all competitions and have lost two of our last three Championship games.
It will be very important that we get back to winning at Brentford on Saturday, although that will not be easy.
This will be the last game that Jonjo Shelvey will miss in his five game suspension, so it would be good to get 3 points and then hopefully Jonjo will return for our FA Cup replay with Birmingham City on Wednesday night.

Comment #1We haven’t always blown the competition away. Some of our results have had an element of fortuity while in others we could’ve, should’ve won.
My point. The second part of this season will be a right scramble. At least 1 or 2 of the peloton will join the race for automatic promotion.
Hope Rafa buys a winger and a playmaker very soon. Gayle may go off the boil or be found out, so the other two forwards must be ready to step up. Rafa should play them much more.

Comment #3We can’t depend on Shelvey as our creative force, for several reasons. For one, we did last year and he was total pants, inadvertently contributing to our demotion. Also, he can shine but can disappear as well, in games. He’s not the speediest and can be pressured.
Having said this, I haven’t been a fan, but I have been very impressed this year. Long may it continue.
