24 year-old Curtis Good has been at Newcastle now for five years after signing for us for £400K from Melbourne Heart in the summer of 2012.
Unfortunately Curtis has been injured a lot of the time he’s been on Tyneside, but when he does play he’s a good player, but his development has simply been continually dogged by injury.
Curtis Good – injured again
The U23 side were knocked out of the Premier League Cup at the quarter-final stage by Reading (0-1) at Whitley Park on Monday, which was a pity.
And Curtis was injured and had to be subbed early in the second half and that seemed to upset the balance of the Newcastle side.
This is what Development Peter Beardsley said after the game:
“Losing Curtis early on in the second half was a big blow to us, and hopefully it’s something minor.”
“That, for me, is the big disappointment of the game really.” “It would have been nice to win, but losing someone like Curtis is probably the biggest disappointment.”
“He’s been injury-free for a while now, and has been outstanding for a while, so it’s disappointing for him.”
“Hopefully it’s something minor.”
We all hope it is something minor, but something tells us that Curtis does not have a future at Newcastle and will likely be released when his contract runs out next year at the end of June.
It’s a pity because when he does play he is a good player so maybe he’s sent out on loan next season to a Championship club to get a chance to prove himself?
What do you think?

Comment #3Supermac, on last thread, I thought Kodja might be a decent shout as well, depending on who Rafa has in mind. He was easily Villa’s biggest threat against us. I was impressed with him at our home game. Saw a vid of him before and looked good as well as two or three of their games. Came with a hefty price tag, though.

Comment #4Another player who has been mentioned a couple of times by, I think it was Jay, and Jamestoon, is Jese, from Las Palmas. I’ve also though he might be another one seems a good shout and may work well with Rafa.
One of quickest in Spanish league, quite tall, good on the ball and can finish.

Comment #5@4, always a big fan of pace. Bobby Robson’s favourite philosophy, was that if you cant bamboozle the opposition with skill, do it with pace. As true today as it was then.

Comment #7Curtis Good injury update – it’s good news. The waste gate actuator on his turbo has malfunctioned, not too expensive as first feared, the turbo itself is ok.
Phew!

Comment #11Looks like this is another player with potential that will never make it. He is too injury prone.
