Poll – Who Was Newcastle’s Player Of The Season?

It’s that time of year after the terrific 3-0 win over Barnsley yesterday and all the celebrations for winning the Championship title by pipping Brighton that we start to think who was our best player for what could be a very important season in the turnaround of Newcastle United under the leadership of Rafa Benitez.

We had some very good performances throughout the season from a number of players but we’ll not say too much because it’s your vote and we don’t want to influence the vote in any way.

Rafa Benitez – great shot of Newcastle United’s magnificent manager

One vote per reader as usual.

Must watch the Chelsea vs Middlesbrough game this afternoon to see just how good Chelsea really are, since they may challenge us for the Premier League title next season.

    Timing is everything. Ed.

It’s going to be frustrating waiting to see who Rafa lines up, no doubt equally so for the usual pundits, ITK s and Wums in the bog roll press as they try to second guess us. At least it’s doubtful we will be seeing any more airfix signings or Shaky Kooky type stop gaps. That is is Old Man Carr’s fickle finger of decision isn’t pointing at Charnleys bargain bucket list

Maguire is the gem you’re right. He’s my number one choice for central defence. Him and Robertson would be great additions to not just the squad but the first team.

Lascelles. Because that’s who i predicted at the beginning of the season. 😀

Probably Shelvey or Ritchie though. Or Clark. Maybe Hayden.

    Actually it’s Darlow.

Yeah mate I reckon Maguire might just be top target him or Shawcross anyway but Maguire is more likely and I wouldn’t argue with Robertson either though is he not more of a wingback?

On topic Ritchie, Gayle, Clark, Hayden, Shelvey and (shocking to anyone who knows my opinion on him) Dummett are all worthy of it imo

Clark for me I think plus his photos from yesterday are class

    Yeah I hope so.
I guess in previous years you could see Robertson as a wing back because he gets upfield like nobody’s business but couldn’t defend and relied on his pace., similar to yedlin before allardyce got a hold of him. He’s improved his defensive game so much though and when I’ve seen him play this year albeit only a few times, he’s impressed from a defensive point of view.
I would still probably say dummett is the more defensively reliable player but Robertson is not far off and is getting better. Attacking wise it’s no competition and we’ll finally have someone to put in some great crosses from the left.

I’m surprised there’s such a big gap between Ritchie and Shelvey. Gayle deserves a lot of credit for his goals. He’d of finished with more than 30 if he’d stayed fit 🙁

Can’t believe Shelvey aint walking it, he’s been the one player that the team couldn’t manage without.

Ritchie deserves it – he always turned up, always committed and wasn’t afraid to make his mouth go. Played with spirit and purpose and was proud to wear the shirt. He’s earned it .
