Newcastle In Driving Seat To Sign The Next Sadio Mane

Premier League club Newcastle United are reported by France Football to have lodged a bid of around £10.5M for Metz winger Ismaila Sarr.

According to our records we have never been linked with this player before.

The 19-year-old played the full season for Metz last season with 33 appearances and five goals and he has already been capped 5 times by the country of his birth – Senegal.

19 year-old Metz winger and Senegal International Ismaila Sarr

The player only moved to Matz last summer from Senegal club Generation Foot and in 2015.

Sarr played in the 2015 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations when he was just 17 but still played 3 games for his country as Senegal finished in 4th place.

He made his senior debut for Senegal against Namibia in September of last year in Dakar in a 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifier.

The other clubs who are said to be interested in the player include Watford and Lille but according to the report Newcastle have stolen a march on the other two clubs by tabling a decent offer for the player.

This is another case of Rafa trying to snap up top talent for a reasonable fee and he can then develop the player at Newcastle to become a first team regular.

The news is that Metz want £12M for Sarr so we are already very close – Rafa must really want this player.

We are being linked with so many players recently it’s hard to keep up with all the news.

The older Metz fans will remember Asprilla scoring against them, then proceeding to turn their corner flag into a flagpole with his Newcastle shirt adorned over the top of it. What a goal celebration that was.

At just 19 years and already a full International, he does look promising especially with the pace and strength he already possesses. Though it will be a worry when Africa Cup of Natuons rolls around as we keep getting linked to signing Africans. But I have no doubt Rafa is aware of this and will sign more wingers in the future to solve this problem.

That’s the game where Batty got punched in the face by one of their players. The player wasn’t sent off for it either.

ShirebrookToon @2 – If this is true then how does a foreign reporter know this but our esteemed local reporter Lee Ryder doesn’t?

Shirebrook, I still have nightmares about Henry & Sunny Anderson playing for Monaco. How did the club miss out on those two.

I get you that darlow may not want to warm the Chelsea bench. But it’s a matter of which bench he prefers, right?

And, personal terms have been agreed but Reina isn’t sure if he wants to leave? Huh?

Maybe they’ve been agreed with the agent and the wife? Now all we need is the player himself?

That’s why I put apparently on the end mate. Some things just don’t add up.

I forgot about Sonny Anderson. That’s was the Keegan era too. Mind you Keegan did turn down the chance to sign Zidane as he wasn’t good enough 🙁

I remember that vividly and still think that if he’d not done that we’d have gone on to win the competition. He got suspended for the yellow received and we had no-one to bang in the chances we made against Monaco at SJP and Sonny Anderson and a young Theirry Henry outdid us in Monte Carlo.
