News today that Newcastle seem to have a chance of signing 23 year-old Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, who was a top Newcastle target before he signed for the Blues from Marseille last summer for a whopping £33M.
Newcastle cannot afford that fee – not this summer anyway – so the best opportunity we have of signing him is on loan with an option to buy him at the end of the season.
We seem to be in with some kind of a chance because we are listed at 7-2 by SkyBet to sign him.
Michy Batshuayi – 23 year-old Chelsea striker
French Champions Monaco are favorites to sign Batshuayi’s at 9/4 and of course he did play two seasons at Marseille so he knows all about the French League.
But if he wanted to keep playing in the Premier league, Newcastle would seem like a decent option for the player.
Although Batshuayi didn’t get a lot of playing time last season, but near the end he showed that if he got sufficient playing time he could score the goals in England’s top league.
Michy ended up scoring 9 goals in 27 game for the Blues, but he started only seven games and he simply wasn’t given a fair chance at Chelsea with Conte preferring Diego Costa.
But he would get that chance at Newcastle although with Newcastle deploying only deploying one striker up front maybe Antonio Conte wouldn’t consider loaning him to Newcastle since he wants Tammy Abraham to get playing time there.
The news today is that Tammy is very close to coming to Newcastle on a season long loan deal.
Conte looks willing to sell the Belgium striker either this summer or next and Newcastle may not have any chance to sign him if another club comes in and offers a decent fee for him before this September.
What do you think?

Comment #2I think he would be a brilliant signing but I can’t see this happening at all. Maybe next season I think he might see us a risk.
But you never know!!

Comment #3Fully agree with Toon_Fresh. Be a top signing but very much doubt he’d join a newly promoted team right now, maybe the season after next if we do well next season.

Comment #6I think he would prefer to play in a team in europe but unless it’s a team outside the premier league I can’t see chelsea allowing that. So it’s either a move abroad or loaned to a club not in europe. …I think he will go to Monaco but if not I’d fancy a loan deal. However. I’d prefer we signed at least 1 new striker permenantly if possible. If we move to 343 he’d be great for us. I’m hoping we get real top quality. In rafa I trust.

Comment #7I thought it was against FA rules to have more than one loan from a team in the same division. Or same team in the division.
Correct me if I am wrong please I was quite sure this was the case.

Comment #9Anyone else rather see Armstrong come through? even if it means we only finish mid table. Arma is the Owen we don’t have to pay 16 mil for.
