Aleksandar Mitrovic seems to have no trouble at all scoring goals for Serbia and he was again on target on Sunday with the equalizer against Wales to make it a 1-1 draw against Wales in Belgrade.
Mitro’s International record is a good one and in 28 total appearances for Serbia he has scored 9 goals and it’s the second time he’s scored in Group D against Wales in World Cup qualifying.
Mitro’s future at Newcastle is uncertain at the moment and he could even be sold this summer.
Aleksandar Mitrovic in action for Newcastle last season in the Championship
After the game on Sunday the 22 year-old striker was interviewed and he likened the game to those in the Championship last season, which tend to be very physical.
This is what the Newcastle striker had to say:
“I like playing against Wales.” “It was like a Championship game, I can say. There was a lot of fight in the middle.”
“We made mistakes that we shouldn’t have made.” “Wales scored from one mistake we made, but we showed good character to come back against them again.”
“It’s not so bad for us, we are back to the top of the group.”
“Everything depends on us and now we have Moldova at home in our next game.”
The next round of games in Serbia’s Group D are in early September and the home game with Moldova that Mitro references is on September 7th.
Serbia are currently at the top of their group with 12 points from their six games having won three and drawn three.
