We should see big movement in the transfer market with Newcastle this week – we hope we see big movement in the transfer market with Newcastle this week.
đ
Newcastle have found the market very tough this summer, mainly because of the sky-high prices clubs are asking for their players.
There’s news today we may have missed out on another one of our midfield targets.
28 year-old Lyon captain Maxime Gonalons – moving to Roma
We had been reported interested in Lyon captain Maxime Gonalons, who was made available by his club, but the news in L’Equipe today is that he will very likely be moving to Roma.
Sky Sports Italia are reporting he is close to agreeing a move to Roma, who finished second top to Juventus in the Italian League last season and only 4 points behind the Italian powerhouse.
The report is that Gonalons’ agent visited Rome yesterday and they are now in advanced talks for a four year deal for the 28 year-old 8 times capped French International
L’Equipe mentioned in their report that Newcastle United were one of the interested clubs.
But we have a number of other options for defensive midfield which look good – one of those options is to sign 29 year-old Manchester City midfielder Fernando and we may be able to get him for just ÂŁ5M.
That would be a great deal is we can get Fernando through the door for just ÂŁ5M.
Here’s hoping.
Comments welcome.

Comment #2I still think Fernando is the best option. 5m for a solid DM who is only 29 (still 3 years in him imo) is a bargain. He is experienced in the PL too. Got to be the no.1 choice.

Comment #3We’ll only have 8 defensive midfielders and 3 goalies at this rate!

Comment #5Markaccus – I agree with you about Fernando – would seem to be the best option but as with all Man City players, wages could be a sticking point!

That depends if we’re gonna scrape around the bargain basement again mate.
I was hoping we would set our ambitions a little higher this summer and I’m Sure Rafa would be hoping the same.
Bournemouth are spending 20 mill on players, Swansea are on the verge of a 11-15 player,Huddersfield are in advanced Negotiations with the Forward from Montpellier for 15mill.
Yet whether true or not we seem to persist with low balling at every given opportunity.
When will the Board bleeding learn

Who knows what goes on behind the scenes at Nufc.
For most Anarchy springs to mind as we lurch from disaster to disaster. The intervention of Rafa Benitez has seemed to steady the ship and at last we are hopefully following some sort of plan… So long as it isn’t an ill fated 7 year plan that the Fat controller took us on.

Barnes has been specifically bought in to oversea finances which can be seen as two ways mate.
Either the purse strings will be loosened at Nufc, Or which is more favourable that every last penny will be scrutinised to the point where even Penfold has to ask to spend a penny

Comment #15Barnes works for Ashley (mash holding) not the club
his job is to ready the club for the forth coming SALE to achieve maximum return for Ashley

talking so authoratively about the
inner workings and happenings at NUFC is a bit like I imagine
what it would be like listening to stone-age Papua New Guineans
talking about the workings of a jet engine.

It has been reported everywhere that Ashleys trusted lieutenant has been drafted in to oversea all finances at Nufc. Whether that be to get the accounts in order for a future sale of the club, Or yearly accounts. Penfold now has to answer to him.
So unless you have some inside information mate, Then his decisions effect the club in every way no matter if he works for Mashley holdings

Comment #23Another day and another Jib classic
We were having a friendly debate on the inner workings of Nufc from what is scripted around the internet, Something you should be quite familiar with your extensive google knowledge.
I am so glad nothing ever changes with you Jib… Keep up the good work son, The blog appreciates it
