Newcastle Complete Preseason Friendly Games With 6th Game Arranged

Lee Charnley has finally complete the first team friendly fixtures for the coming preseason with a game set up at St. James’ Park with Helles Verona who are managed by former assistant coach Fabio Pecchia.

One of the other games is with Hearts who are managed by former Scottish assistant coach Ian Cathro.

While Ian struggled at Hearts in the second half of last season Fabio did extremely well and had Verona immediately promoted back to Serie A after the had been relegated a year ago.

Here’s the official statement from Newcastle United on the friendly:

“Newcastle United will round off their preparations for the 2017/18 Premier League season with a home friendly against Hellas Verona.”

“The Italian side, who won promotion from Serie B last season, will take on Rafa Benitez’s side at St. James’ Park on Sunday, 6th August, with the game set for a 3pm kick-off (BST).”

“Verona are managed by former United coach Fabio Pecchia, who left the Magpies just over a year ago to take up his first managerial post with the Gialloblu.”

“It will be the sixth and final pre-season fixture for Newcastle, who begin their Premier League campaign at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, 12th August.”

I wonder what are the chances of any of the away friendlies being televised? Seems like ages since there was a toon match to watch.

Looks like a reasonable schedule unlike those tournaments. Probably unlimited subs, with ‘easy’ teams, mainly. Was the year we got thrashed by Leyton Orient the same we finished fifth?

In my mind, preseason is about trying things out, formations, players, with no 11 set, as squad players play against each other. Don’t we got twenty two plus players? Game on. No need to invite others.

Come on Rafa, sign the three players I told you, a couple friendlies, some twinking, we’re set.

Just been watching Lee Ryder answering questions on FB. On the transfer situation, he said there was a great deal of frustration among NUFC staff at the moment.

Jib Jibberish (blog pest) you seem to be in a more robust mood today – rather than your tart like tantrum of yesterday.
    You posted earlier ;-
“When MrTuff calls people he dislikes Mr Tubbs or Junior Tubbs
Why do the words “Pot” “Kettle” “Black” jump into my brain ?”

I’ll give your question a stab if you don’t mind ” Why do the words “Pot” “Kettle” “Black” jump into my brain ?”

It’s only a guess but is it because there is nothing else in there.
hahahaha —– get in – worra plonka.

    Mister Tuff @5

You say that your friend Jiblet’s being robust today. Coincidentally, I’d posted a similar comment about his Pot-Kettle snipe a couple of threads back but used the word pompous. He’s clearly not taken his medicine that counters his arrogance. He must need gallons of it!
