This Precocious Chelsea Midfielder Would Be Perfect Buy For Newcastle

Another one of our many targets this summer seems to be 22 year-old defender/midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah of Chelsea.

Chalobah is yet another of Chelsea’s many young stars who is getting itchy feet and wants to the leave the Blues so he can get first team football elsewhere.

Over the last five years the player has had six loan moves to various clubs including a season loan last season to one of Rafa’s former clubs – Napoli.

22 year-old Chelsea midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah

He’s been on loan at Watford, Nottingham Forest, Middlesbrough, Burnley, Reading and Napoli and he’s played 121 first team games so far in his career including 15 games for the Chelsea first team.

He’s played for all the England youth sides and 40 times for the England U21 side and was a member of the England squad who reached the semifinals of last month’s European Under-21 Championship in Poland and lost 4-3 on penalties to …. well Germany again.

This lad looks like a top young player in the making who has already had lots of experiences playing first team football.

Swansea, West Ham, Leicester and Watford are the other Premier League clubs looking to sign the player this summer, with rumours Chelsea are now willing to sell Chalobah.

The 6ft 1ins tall player was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone and initially joined Fulham before moving to Chelsea back in 2005 when he was just 10 years old.

He seems just the kind of young, accomplished technical player that Rafa wants to sign for Newcastle and he would hopefully come at a reasonable fee.

Maybe he’s one of the players local reports say we have bid for and are now waiting for a response to that bid.

Hope so.

What do you think?

Chalobah fits the profile imho. However he’d have a lot of suiters

I see the Mirror (again) via Stan Collymore is putting the boot in to Rafa – calling him a dictator. Other things he says shows he knows nothing about NUFC.
Is the Mirror having an anti Rafa campaign.

At 22 he’s definitely one for the future but more interestingly from what Ive seen off him he’s also ready now for PL football… Great potential this kid but think it will be another silly quoted price from Chelsea that we won’t pay but a mediocre club will throw the dough at!

I would imagine he will come at a premium price as well mate. If Ake has just gone for 20 mill, Then expect the same fee to be touted for this youngster

Yeah that’s the worry buddy whether we are prepared to pay the going rate. Every Debate boils back to the stringent nature of the club, And the targets we have missed out on in the past because of a few measly quid.
This summer will tell us whether we are going on a different path or on the same destructive path we have been taking since Ashley took over

He will prove to be worth it in years to come but the fat man would never sanction it. He would be perfect competition for Haydon too!

We,ve got no chance of signing the lad, especially if Bournemouth show interest.

Watched Chalobah when he played for Watford, whilst I am unsure if Hayden will be anything more than bang-average at PL level, he is still way out ahead of Chalobah. The guy has a cracking long-range shot on him, but his first touch is like that of Cisse.

We need a senior CDM surely not another for the future when we have Hayden?

After 17 Premier League transfers in the previous two months, things have really come alive.
Whilst some £250m had been committed in May and June by Premier League clubs, there had only been a relatively small number of deals agreed.

That has all changed though now.

A day apart, Friday and Saturday saw nine separate Premier League transfers announced, with many of those deals involving clubs that Newcastle are expected to need to finish above, if a relegation battle is to be avoided.
Watford have signed two, Huddersfield a couple as well, whilst Bournemouth added one to go with Thursday’s capture of Jermain Defoe.
Newcastle have been heavily linked with Henry Onyekuru and Willy Cabaellero but they are now Everton and Chelsea players respectively.
Aaron Mooy was said to be a Newcastle target at one point but has become Huddersfield’s record signing.
Likewise, Newcastle were said to have made an enquiry about Nathan Ake but he has instead signed on at Bournemouth in a £20m record transfer for them.
Last summer saw a record £1.2bn spent by Premier League clubs and the signs are that summer 2017 is going to leave that well behind.
Pre-season training starts tomorrow for Newcastle United and our competitors are now showing their hand in the transfer market, the question being when will Newcastle join them?
These are the 28 Premier League transfers agreed (two of them announced as early as March, during the season) so far as confirmed by BBC  Sport:
    22 March
Elias Kachunga (Ingolstadt – Huddersfield) £1.1m
    31 March
Tom Cleverley (Everton – Watford) Undisclosed
    19 May
Pascal Gross (FC Ingolstadt 04 – Brighton) Undisclosed
    24 May
Christian Atsu (Chelsea – Newcastle) Undisclosed
    26 May
Bernardo Silva (Monaco – Manchester City) £43m
Pablo Zabaleta (Manchester City – West Ham) Free
    30 May
Dominic Solanke (Chelsea – Liverpool) Compensation

    1 June
Darren Fletcher (West Brom – Stoke) Free
    6 June
Sead Kolasinac (Schalke – Arsenal) Free
    8 June
Ederson Moraes (Benfica – Manchester City) £35m
    14 June
Victor Lindelof (Benfica – Manchester United) £31m
    15 June
Davy Klaassen (Ajax – Everton) £23.6m
Harry Maguire (Hull – Leicester) £17m
Jordan Pickford (Sunderland – Everton) £25m rising to £30m
    16 June
Mathew Ryan (Valencia – Brighton) Undisclosed
    22 June
Mohamed Salah (Roma – Liverpool) £34m

    23 June
Laurent Depoitre (Porto – Huddersfield) Undisclosed
    24 June
Will Hughes (Derby County – Watford) £8m
    29 June
Jermain Defoe (Sunderland – Bournemouth) Free
    30 June
Nathan Ake (Chelsea – Bournemouth) Undisclosed
Aaron Mooy (Manchester City – Huddersfield) £8m
Jonas Lossl (FSV Mainz 05 – Huddersfield) Loan
Henry Onyekuru (Eupen – Everton) £7m
    1 July
Ethan Ampadu (Exeter City – Chelsea) Undisclosed
Daniel Bachmann (Stoke City – Watford) Undisclosed

everyone is talking about signing players but from a financial point of view what will rafa do with this lot?
    de jong
    gouffran (1 year deal maybe)
plus sels and anita already gone

I like some of the players on the list but I don’t think they have any real future under rafa

Jazzy – it’s why nufc are always going to be hamstrung under this regime. I’ve seen no evidence that anything has changed. I hope Ashley sells but his price is too much so I doubt it. To think we would have had man cities ownership if he’d not have priced us out of it. Right now there are players available we should be all over buying imho. Sakho, iheanacho, gray, mangala, Navas. … we will likely instead be shopping in the ‘never hear of him bin’.

    krul sell
    colback sell
    hanley sell
    lazaar loan or sell
    de jong sell or loan
    diame sell
    mbemba keep I hope
    haidara sell or loan
    gouffran – gone I hope
    saivet sell or loan
    gamez sell or loan
    riviere sell or loan
    murphy sell
mitrovic if we get 2 strikers then sell

Those I’ve said sell I can see us getting money for those with loan I’d just get off the wage bill using a loan.
I highly doubt we couldn’t get them off the books if needed. Even if we paid part of a fews wages.
It’s far more important to get the right players in, however I doubt Ashley will see it that way which is going to cause problems.
In my Humble opinion we need 7 or 8 first teamers with 3 or 4 better cover. We lack pace and creativity in front 6. Only shelvey and Ritchie. Back 5 need an overhaul only clark got me is ready.
Rafa will know this far better than me hence his alleged frustration.
As per usual the regime show a lack of class and understanding.
What’s on the pitch should come first not what the books will look like.

Taff – I’d hope lejeunes a formality and in this week, I’d take gibbs if Dummett staying too due to his injury record.
After that I’d say gray and iheanacho are what we need to be after – both.
If Ashley I’d will to part with 25% with a valuation of 400 million investment of 100 million on players would kick start a proper recruitment drive. I’ve been wondering if that’s what’s been holding up signings. Waiting for investment to be finalised maybe.

Just one this week, just bloody one. I honesty don’t care which one just one, if two that would be awesome but one will do. Come on Newcastle United just one bloody signing to make us feel like the club has a future in the premiership. We have been linked with what feels like 1001 players so just one Newcastle just one will do this week. See the theme here NUFC, most would be happy with just one signing, we don’t want to go back to the Championship to play Sunderland we really, really don’t want to do that so please stop trying to make that happen and sign one bloody player.

Im not a fan of joe hart tbh….thinks he more hype then ability, and would rather stick with one of the keepers we have now and use the money else where in the team.
Regarding abied, never thought he got a decent chance when he was here but cant see him comin back under rafa, but if he did…i wouldn’t be disappointed at him gettin another chance, never seen chalobah.

Isn’t the Mirror supposed to be the club’s official media partner? If that is the case, our PR lot aren’t managing it at all. Successful businesses manage their media but our lot appear to be letting the media print whatever mischievous rubbish it chooses to.
