Photos on the Newcastle web-site today as the Newcastle players arrives for the first day of preseason training this morning.
Players we haven’t seen for some time like Dutch Internationals Tim Krul and Siem de Jong were among the players reporting for the new season.
Rafa Benitez will have to place some of the 35 first team players with Peter Beardsley’s U23 squad, since there are too many first team players to train with the first team squad – which is usually around 25 in number.
Ayoze Perez
Siem de Jong
Chancel Mbemba
DeAndre Yedlin
Isaac Hayden
Rob Elliot
Karl Darlow
Adam Armstrong
Rolando Aarons
Note:
One of our readers Alex Wannop is completing in the GN 10K next Sunday and also the GN Run to collect funds for Tiny Lives, because the Trust provided lifesaving care for his son Isaac, when he was born by C-section and in some distress.
The Tiny Lives Trust funds the Special Care Baby Unit at the RVI where Alex’s son Isaac spent the first few weeks of his life.
Alex is appreciative of the work the great doctors and nurses did to save his son’s life and that’s why he’s raising money.
Please support this very worthwhile charity on Alex’s Just Giving page where there are pictures of his son Isaac – thanks.

Comment #6Notes from those pics… first thought De Jong has a Newcastle paint job…
Hayden the only one making use of the free clothes from PUMA…
Armstrong looks like a 10 year old in a fake beard.
Big season for a few of these! Aarons seriously needs to make an impression/breakthrough in particular!
Perez needs to push on. Lot of talk that him and Mitrovic were more suited to the premier league than EFL, time to see if that’s the case.
Interesting to see who ends as no.1.. Krul of 5 years ago was miles ahead of darlow/Elliott but seems to have relapsed. Darlow makes to many errors in concentration for me, whilst Elliott is the bravest keeper I’ve seen, and actually a really good reactive keeper, his fitness is suspect and his shot stopping from outside the area shots in rubbish! So many go in past him that aren’t particularly in the corner

Comment #7De Jong got lost trying to find the changing rooms he only knew the way to the physios room
He and Aarons were found an hour after everyone else had gone they were found thirsty and a little hungry and a little shaken up jack colback has been given the job as guide until they learn the way
It is hoped colback can excel in this as they are thinking of making him chief meeter and greeter for the season

Comment #9Aye, the bargain basement shopping seems to confirm that there’s very little in the transfer kitty. The Prem parachute payment must’ve been allocated to covering last season’s costs but were they so large that last summer’s transfer surplus’s gone too?
Yes, it looks as though we’ve all been taken in by Ashley’s commitment that all money generated as a result of promotion and player sales will be available for squad strengthening. If this is the case, he didn’t lie. Every flaming window, the same shenanigans – except when Ashley’s staring relegation in the face and he flaps when it’s too late
