The Newcastle United twitter account have put out a video showing various players arriving for preseason training at the Benton Training grounds this morning.
The sun was shining to welcome Rafa at 8:00 am followed by the players at around 10:00 am. – which is where the video starts.

Comments welcome.
Note:
One of our readers Alex Wannop is completing in the GN 10K next Sunday and also the GN Run to collect funds for Tiny Lives, because the Trust provided lifesaving care for his son Isaac, when he was born by C-section and in some distress.
The Tiny Lives Trust funds the Special Care Baby Unit at the RVI where Alex’s son Isaac spent the first few weeks of his life.
Alex is appreciative of the work the great doctors and nurses did to save his son’s life and that’s why he’s raising money.
Please support this very worthwhile charity on Alex’s Just Giving page where there are pictures of his son Isaac – thanks.

Comment #1Imminent signings. About time – we should be able to assess whether we have been shopping in the lower end of the bargain basement or above that.
We’ll see if Rafa can work his magic this season. Got to say though his results do depend on the standard of player we sign. Might get a couple of known “names” and the rest unknowns is my guess.

Comment #7Does anyone know how this financial fair play farce works? Man City are paying Joe Hart’s wages while he goes on loan (Torino paid him £30k a week out of his £125k salary). There’s no way Chelsea operates without a top up from Abramovich and city from Mansour! Meanwhile humble clubs operate within their means and wallow at the bottom end of the league!

Comment #8Moonraker, dunno about City but I know Chelsea are one billion quid in debt to the big Russian. So I’ve no idea how the FFP rules operate. Frankly I think they’re a joke, because all it appears to do is ensure nobody catchers up to the rich clubs. How being a billion in debt is classed as sustainable I have no idea, because no way on this planet is Chelsea worth that. We’ve seen what happens historically with Chelsea, when their luck dips the fans desert in droves.
That debt will continue to grow as long as he’s there.

Comment #10I would love to be in debt like Chelsea, why because it has no reflection on my life. Oh and we might actually win a trophy.
The debt is just a number, no way they’ll fold. If anything the popularity is growing all the time.

Comment #12allegedly Mansour owned company pays Man City 40m a year for sponsorship, they have maximised their revenue streams to include world wide branding and are in the Champions league, they sell their stars for many tens of millions and their failures for tens of millions……same can be said for Chelski and Abramovic, both owners wanted success at their clubs and were prepared to bankroll , im not sure but i read Chelski owe Abramovic over 1billion ……no ffp for these guys as they have back door access to fund their teams

Comment #13Sazzer, been asleep mate? 🙂 That was yesterday’s news. Easy mistake to make though, as we’re all stuck in a permanent time loop here! 🙂
Still, sooner or later something will happen I suppose. Hopefully it will be a London Buses routine. They’ll all arrive at once.

Comment #14I’m looking forward to at least one top quality striker coming through the door, we’ve missed that massive Shearer, Ba, Carol, Remy type players who’s absence relegated us. I do think Gayle will get us goals but we need to be prolific.

Comment #20Not really sure how £15m for Jay Rodriguez is a great signing. Been injured for most of the last 3 Years and only scored 61 in 226 games (nearly 1 in 4). Glad he’s gone Brom and not to us to be honest. Much better non-injury prone strikers out there

Comment #21Jazzy you talk rubbish about Perez. Yes I agree he needs to push onto that next level now but stating he runs around like a lost lamb is utter garbage. In the relegation year he was getting played out wide and putting shift after shift in and actually running with the ball relieving pressure while so called stars like shelvey, Wijnaldum and sissokho would pass it quickly backwards not wanting to take an responsibility at all. Inconsistency will be part of his game as he is a young player developing so give the lad a break as there’s much more garbage at the club than him. For someone so young he has also shown he can score goals and put in good performances out of position at prem level. No wonder players don’t develop at our club when we have fans like you slating out better younger players for Christ sake.

Comment #23Who put the fire out, woof woof
Hardly a ringing endorsement for a quality approach to management, but daresay others have done similar (I know I have but 40 years ago and not as Owner of NUFC ) !
Sportswear tycoon Mike Ashley once hosted a management meeting in a pub where he drank 12 pints and vomited into a fireplace, a court has heard. The Newcastle United owner is being sued by finance expert Jeffrey Blue at London’s High Court. He claims Mr Ashley often held meetings in pubs, and at one time promised to pay him £15m if he managed to increase Sports Direct’s share price to £8.
He said the billionaire only paid him £1m. Mr Ashley disputes the claim.
Mr Justice Leggatt was told the dispute between Mr Blue and Mr Ashley related to an alleged conversation in a London pub called the Horse & Groom in 2013.
Jeffrey Chapman QC, who is leading Mr Blue’s legal team, told the judge Mr Ashley’s business practices flew in the face of “business orthodoxy”.

Comment #38I’d like to think we were in for Chicarito, but I don’t know what sort of striker Rafa is wanting to bring in. He might see him as being too similar to Gayle, although possibly a step up in truth. We could certainly do a lot worse.
