Classy Former Club Eibar Vouch For Florian Lejeune’s Character

One of the things that was noticed last summer – when Rafa Benitez completely changed the Newcastle squad by bringing in 12 players and allowing 20 players to move out either permanently or on loan – was that he also dramatically changed the character of the squad.

He brought in players who wanted to play for Newcastle and play for the world-class manager.

Last season there were far too many players who couldn’t care less and that was epitomized by a Jamaal Lascelles blunt statement as he was sent off against Everton when we lost 3-0.

A serious looking Rafa Benitez with new signing Florian Lejeune yesterday
Smile Rafa – he’s a good player

Jamaal Lascelles – now captain of Newcastle – said while walking off the Goodison pitch said that nobody cares a f*** at the club.

Jamaal has a very good habit of telling it like it is – which we like a lot.

That’s one of the quotes from Mark Douglas’ excellent new book on Rafa – “Inside the Rafalution” – which I finally received yesterday.

And we saw an immediate improvement in the dressing room from the losing “couldn’t care less attitude” that existed under former manager Steve McClaren last season.

Our lads fought like crazy in some of last season’s matches against opposition we were supposed to beat – and it was great to see the guts and pride of the Newcastle players – they really cared.

And it seems Rafa has bought in another strong character in Florian Lejeune, with his former club sending out a classy tweet about their former player.

That’s a very nice touch from the Spanish club and we have an excellent player in Florian Lejeune.

The Frenchman will no doubt want to be one of the starting center-backs against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, August 12th when the Premier League kicks off at St. James’ Park and that’s great for competition.

The more we learn about Florian the better we like him.

🙂

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

What was SDJ injury record last season, does anyone know, because a fit and injury free SDJ would be ideal for us.

Tuff, trust you to gravitate towards my arse, you sick pervert. Is spanking arse your only hobby? Never stop talking about it.
You started AGAIN man child, I’m more than happy to continue to ignore your childish prattling, but in case you hadn’t noticed, you mentioned me, not the other way round. I have far better things to discuss than you. You are nobody. Your football knowledge is risible and generally consists of cut and paste.
I did say a while ago, ignore me and I’ll reciprocate. That still stands oddball. Butt out.
I far prefer to talk to other Newcastle fans, not you, someone who lives up here being your only connection to NUFC. So in touch you think they still sell peanuts at games!!!
So sad, you have to invent going to games to fit in. Scouting on our loanies – ha ha ha!
    You’re a joke Tuff. A laughing stock.
So, you keep to yourself and I’ll do likewise. You have been right once though – I don’t like you. What’s to like? A child trapped in a big oafs body?
Now look, you’ve spoiled my fun. As usual, clearly jealous, because we’re talking football and out of your comfort zone, so you have to come in with yet another unprovoked dig to try and drag the conversation down to your sad level.
    Better things to do.
Why do you do it? You invariably end up crying after all. Why do you have to seek out confrontation then rely on your cronies to try bail you out? Seriously, you’re one pathetic excuse for anything. I can’t even call you a man.
So that’s me done. Blog ruined by the resident moron. Ex copper innit? That would explain a helluva lot about your mentality like. Also explain why such a big man as you is still frightened to go to games. People have long memories I suppose. Chicken shyt.

    Pete Graves @PeteGravesSky

A lot of work has gone on behind the scenes at #nufc and deals ARE closer. Rafa defo wants an experienced keeper. Joe Hart an option. #SSNHQ

Spoof…Siem didn’t play that much it seems. 10 starts and 9 subs with 6 goals and 1 assist, Very average ratings as well it seems. Suppose it could be worse, but I’ll be very surprised if he’ll figure in our PL campaign

Did anyone actually watch the polish lad last season for Hull? He was pretty impressive considering he came in Jan and found his feet well…think he got player of the month, I watched a fair bit of Hull back end of the season (not entirely sure why tbh) but he looked a decent player be a big upgrade of Gouffran whose NUFC career looks increasingly suspect must be touting himself around atm and am sure someone will beat our 1 year offer

19 appearance’s is an improvement, but when not selected was that due to injury or just someone else being preferred, I would love to see him prove us all strong and stay fit and prove just how good he is, but I suspect that you will be proved correct and he will not feature for us, such a shame because have is such a talent.

Aye mate hes not a stellar signing but I thought he looked good enough can play either wing and grafts his a**e off plus hes not scared of a relegation battle which is good because we might be in one at stages this coming season

Ideal world he wont be the only winger to come in obviously but Id be happy with him

I think we will be pleasantly surprised come the end of the window by the quality of signings. Rafa will want to compete not just consolidate. The negativity on here the last few weeks beggars belief. Positive energy transmitted results in positive
achievements. Insigne to sign for us is my prediction.

Rafa must be more flexible in the PL

We cannot play 4-2-3-1 100% of the time

Everyone looked at Antonio Conte’s Chelsea last season and went “wow”
could some of those CB’s you mention be converted into a “sweeper” a la David Luiz ?

I think ideally we ship De Jong out now while he’s still in working order. He’ll probably be injured in a few weeks time.
