Star Player Knows It’s Now Or Never This Preseason For His Newcastle Career

We don’t know whether Siem de Jong, who was on loan last season at PSV, still has a career at Newcastle but how he plays in preseason will go a long way to answering that question.

We hope Siem can come through because he’s a good technical player who could do a job for us in the Premier league next season.

But his younger brother Luuk found it difficult at Newcastle and Siem has not found it easy since signing on for us three years ago from Ajax for £6M, where he was the captain.

But of course he’s also been hit with lots of injuries although he was fairly injury free last season while on loan at PSV.

28 year-old Siem de Jong – on loan at PSV last season

Siem did quite well at PSV where his brother now plays – and he scored 6 goals in 23 total appearances and helped PSV to 3rd place in the Eredivisie with 76 points, 6 points behind the Champions Feyenoord.

His brother Luuk had a poor time of it last season scoring only 9 goals in 37 appearances, after he had scored a massive 32 goals in 43 appearances the season before.

The two brothers scored about on goal in every four appearances last season for PSV.

PSV did not want to sign Siem at the end of the season and if he doesn’t make it into the Newcastle first team squad for next season (we hope he does) – then he will probably be loaned out again for next season.

Siem has played 26 times with two goals for Newcastle and his contract at the club still has a full three years to run.

Here’s the tweet Siem has put out:

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

One of our readers Alex Wannop is completing in the GN 10K next Sunday and also the GN Run to collect funds for Tiny Lives, because the Trust provided lifesaving care for his son Isaac, when he was born by C-section and in some distress.

The Tiny Lives Trust funds the Special Care Baby Unit at the RVI where Alex’s son Isaac spent the first few weeks of his life.

Alex is appreciative of the work the great doctors and nurses did to save his son’s life and that’s why he’s raising money.

Please support this very worthwhile charity on Alex’s Just Giving page where there are pictures of his son Isaac – thanks.

Perfectly legal as long as taxes are paid, what they are doing though is pretending the top guy is on a low wage (comparatively so they don’t have to pay the ones below him /her as much ,not illegal just immoral, I’m surprised an honest upright decent fellow like Mr Ashley partake in such deception………

I don’t see Bas Dost as a £5m player nevermind £40m, that has to be some of DT’s favourite news!

Better, we don’t need to sell Mbemba or get another cb, we have 4 premier league quality cb
If we can add Fernando, Loftus cheek on loan, chambers, a left back ( Gibbs or nick Charlie Taylor from but let ) a winger and a striker we will not get relegated this season. 2 in 6 to go. Hawey the toon, we can do it!

Das Boot gets in there with his scrambly bits, he scores at a very nice pace. I would pay 5M for him…. or even a midget version of him……

    Thanks giimps
    That comfirms what i thought
Fattie has very little morals when it comes to his staff
We know that i just wondered if it broke the law.

It also seems strange penfold is payed so little compaired to those below him at the club
    Bonus could explain that though.

We really only have 3 quality CB’s, even with the new lad Lejeune. Hanley is not Prem quality. He’ll be sold on. We need another one unless somebody like Good is ready to step in.

Nope, don’t think he’s any better than Mitro from what I’ve seen of him. I reckon we already have better on the books. I’m still hopping for that Oukoborou, or wahtever his name is.

And isn’t Good packing his bags for pastures new.

Anyway time to drift off to dreaming of our fantastic ten match winning start for next season.

If the club dont change its transfer policy that is buying average player, we will surely be relegation fighters again . We wont be a top 5 team so far MA owns the club. With good financial backing RB will bring back glories day and of course some trophies. Here in Mauritius the MU/kops/AFC fans always mocked “have you ever seen nufc lift a trophy” or “when will you ever see nufc lifting a trophy” etcccc.
I have been very patient and let’s hope we get a new ambitious owner or some rich investors from china.

Well done Jib, cementing your reputation there in style.

So what is the radius from St James Park for allowable supporter status? It would be helpful to Ed so he can maybe filter out all the non-legitimate worthless fans. Perhaps he can insist on a copy of their passports, or proof of a visit to the North East? A travel ticket or maybe even a relative who lives here?

I don’t want a club that has to buy success like the Manchesters , Chelsea and now Arsenal.
It’s not necessary , as LCFC proved in the 2015/16 season with Ranieri , or Rangers found to their humiliating cost in Luxemburg last night.
A world class coach with astute signings and a solid fan base will win stuff.
