With Florian Lejeune Signing – Two Players In – Seven Players Out – So Far

With Newcastle finally signing Florian Lejeune today we have now brought two players into the club this summer and allowed seven players to leave and our total outlay is currently at £4M.

It was good to get Florian finally over the line but it took far too long, but anyway – the deal is now done and that’s good.

Newcastle have now brought in two players this summer, Christian  Atsu and Florian Lejeune for a combined total of £15M so that’s not a bad price for two good players in this summer’s inflated transfer window.

New signing Florian Lejeune at St. James’ Park yesterday

Managing Director Lee Charnley on Thursday night at the Fans Forum meeting said that Newcastle were about to announce some signings this week – so we expect more signings soon.

The next news will be that somebody has come in for their medical, but it’s difficult to know which player that will be.

Louise Taylor in the Guardian has said that Newcastle have recently put in bids for several players including Hull City’s Kamil Grosicki and Tom Huddlestone, Arsenal’s Calum Chambers and Kieran Gibbs, Burnley’s Andre Gray, Villarreal’s Cedric Bakambu and Manchester City’s Joe Hart.

So it may be one of those.

Our bet would be we have done the deal at £8M for 27 year-old Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs and if he comes in that’s another good signing for Newcastle.

Who do you think will be the next player through the door?

Here’s the current status of transfers at Newcastle this summer.

One of our readers Alex Wannop is completing in the GN 10K next Sunday and also the GN Run to collect funds for Tiny Lives, because the Trust provided lifesaving care for his son Isaac, when he was born by C-section and in some distress.

The Tiny Lives Trust funds the Special Care Baby Unit at the RVI where Alex’s son Isaac spent the first few weeks of his life.

Alex is appreciative of the work the great doctors and nurses did to save his son’s life and that’s why he’s raising money.

Please support this very worthwhile charity on Alex’s Just Giving page where there are pictures of his son Isaac – thanks.

EXCELLENT!!! I must I’ve fallen into that trap of becoming impatient at the lack of signings, but done deal now! Hopefully we can still get a 3 or 4 more players over the line soon enough for Rafa’s comfort in blooding them into pre-season training

The nett spend is actually minus £2 million because the next £6 million instalment from Spurs for the Sissoko deal is due this window

Curtis Good is going to join former Toon captain Kevin Nolan at Notts County
    Good luck to him
It never quite worked out for him with us
Not for the want of trying
He also got to Wembley with Bradford (on loan)
So he has some good memories
He’s still only 24 so you never know

Grosicki looked very good on MoTd highlights, last season.
Going with JIB’s Polish expertise, I reckon he’ll be next.

Looks like a typical Rafa centre half big and loves to defend ! He also has real quality on the ball so I can see him being able to start moves from the back

Hopefully this kick starts us signing players if we sign that boy from Hull to play on the wing that would be another quality signing !

Hanley is expected to go to Sheffield Wednesday as well so wonder if that will be us done for centre halfs or will get another in and ship Mbemba out?

@Salmon T I use adblock, not Ad Block plus, and it works fine, other than on the Chronicles site as far as comments are concerned
