Transfer Fee May Be Too High For Newcastle To Pay For This Central Midfield Target

There’s a report in the Telegraph today that Stoke City have launched a £12M bid Manchester City central midfielder Fabian Delph and given the wild transfer fees being paid out this summer by Premier League clubs, that’s not a bad price for a good technical player.

The report says that Newcastle are also interested in signing Delph,  but that the fee may put them off –  we hope that’s not true.

The reality about Fabian is that if he did sign for Newcastle United then Rafa Benitez could bring out the best of a player who always had good potential without ever reaching the heights.

Mark Hughes is a good manager, but he’s no Rafa Benitez.

27 year-old Manchester City central midfielder Fabian Delph

The Telegraph report is the accomplished Stoke manager is keen to make Fabian his third signing of the summer – and we hope Newcastle will also try to make Delph our third signing of the summer.

Manchester City want to have a permanent sale this summer for the player who signed on two years ago from Aston Villa and they don’t want to send Fabian out on loan.

West Brom are the other Premier League club interested in the 9 times capped England International.

Stoke are obviously now in the lead to sign the play-maker, but from the Telegraph report, it doesn’t look like Newcastle are very keen to sign the 27 year-old – and that’s a pity.

This is what Mark Hughes has said about Delph:

“We have asked for an idea in terms of the possibility of doing something with Fabian Delph.”

“He is one of a number of players we are looking at, but we speak to a lot of clubs and ask about their plans for certain players.”

“Fabian is one that we have asked about, because he is a good footballer, but with certain deals you are in the hands of other clubs.”

“We are very active in the market at the moment, and we are hopeful that things will begin to move quickly for us.”

Rafa and Newcastle do have other central midfield players we are looking at, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

But it may be that Fabian Delph is not a priority transfer target at Newcastle after all?

We’ll soon find out.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

Leeds have got themselvrs a tidy utility player in vurn. He’ll cover fb and rmf should they require it. They might struggle if the play him in any sort of anchor role.

Supposedly mate but who knows. Was certainly part of him signing for us that he’d play CDM which Pardew never thought he was good enough to do

    WW…,
Basically he was bought to replace Cabaye OR Tiote, so considering nobody thought him good enough to play there we’d have been relegated that season of either had been sold.

I think we had to keep Goufran as RAFA released Colback and Anita – which left us two short in midfield and as it stands at the moment and knowing the TOON could go into the season with out a midfield signing.

Think Newcastle have got more average players than swans,

    Newcastle best players.

    Gayle
Shelvey ( plays well with a firework shoved up his arse)
    Ritchie
    Yedlin
    Possibly Hayden.
    Atsu
    Clarke
    Elliott
    Darlow

    Cannot help himself
He’s the shitbag type that has proliferated with the advent of blogs and social media
If we met him in the real world and he waggled his pissflaps at us we’d give him a slap
and that would be an end to it.

Jib wonders why I’m not posting much. Should be getting all excited about the new season like should I? All the canny new signings who can’t wait to join the club and play for the great Rafa Benitez? The Tammy Abraham thing was hilarious. The greasy Spanish turd went begging to him personally and he chooses Swansea!!! Nothing changes here. New season, same suckers. You’ll be delighted with the new chief scout and all I’m sure Jib. Promoted for six years of serial incompetence. You really couldn’t make that one up. I currently have us finishing 20th on 19 pts. (Revised down from 20pts after the arrival of our latest Overrated Frenchman.) Have a look at Eibar v Barcelona on YouTube from last season. You’ll love the bit where Suarez sits him on his arse.
