Here’s What’s On The Minds Of Newcastle Fans This Saturday Morning

We are being linked with a return of Andros Townsend today and there are reports that we are still interested in speedy winger Adama Traore.

We are also supposed to be trying to get a deal done for Benfica playmaker Andreas Samaris but we are short of around £3M of the Portuguese club’s asking price – so we are not too far aways – we have offered around £14M and they want £17.4M.

Benfica playmaker Andreas Samaris – Newcastle trying to sign him

Fans are still (rightly) asking for a little bit of patience in this very difficult transfer market – but that’s always difficult at Newcastle.

Here are some interesting tweets this morning from Geordie fans.

And it looks like Karl Darlow could be in his way ….

I don’t know why Mike is being unfavourably compared to evertons investors and bring expected to pour money into his own club to ensure it’s survival in the PL. It’s not like he’s extremely rich or has money to chuck away on a drunken whim… Oh…wait….

I know this is getting tired to some but bring back HBA on a free he loved it here and we loved him, Pardew shoved him to the side but the lad has unfinished business here. Deal makes total sense guess that would be to much to ask.

Give me Traore over Townsend too please.

Newcastle have held talks with Benfica about 28-year-old Greek midfielder Andreas Samaris, but the Premier League side are struggling to meet the £17.5m fee. (Mirror)

What’s on the mind is that “we get the posters on here we deserve”. With the likes of expat in his permanent state of catatonic stupidity then we need to recognise those that promote the beautiful game from a sound football knowledge base.
Like Bobby says the old buffer and his mates should be ignored and the likes of jimmy S, Lilo, Martoon, Jiband the genuine Toon fans warmly welcomed. Signings next Tuesday will lift the mood.

I think someone already mentioned it earlier, but I’ve only just seen Sels’ blunder in the first minute of his debut for Anderlecht..
I love Rafa, realise everybody makes mistakes but it’s nagging away at me that this guy was widely reported as Rafa’s pick.
Sheesh man, I have to say Matz is a lemon!

    Jimmy from earlier,
No arguments that all the ingredients are there to be able to put together a top ten side for this season. So far it isn’t coming together, but there is time and plenty left on the market to give us that level of a squad.

Given the way Everton are strengthening, it would require a minor miracle to make 7th or higher. After that, it is very much an average league that offers a good chance of hitting 8th, that’s why I said I’d be happy with anywhere between 8th and 15th next season. The difference between those places last year was just 5 points, so it is small margins.

I’d say currently our squad, without further additions, is scrapping for between 14th and relegation. It wouldn’t take a lot of signings to lift us into the next bracket, but it requires quality in certain areas with last seasons first choice being required to fill in when required.

We will see what happens, but I’d be happy with staying up comfortably and building again in a year. As I said before though, that will be eyed suspiciously by many due to our past targets near aims.

As for Rafa hanging around, I don’t really think this but just playing devils advocate, his stock was probably as low as it has been since he joined Valencia. If we continue with the same model and approach to transfers as we’ve seen under Ashley, a modicum of relative success here will elevate his standing and reputation again. Pardew was sacked by a league 1 club before he joined us and became viewed as a beacon for Englsh managerial talent. I think Rafa has more integrity than that mind, but you never know.

So we have offered around £14M for Samarrs and they want £17.4M Why does Ashley/ Charnley always phartarse about over a relatively small amount? If the difference between the clubs really is £3.4m it could be sorted very quickly. They’ve had weeks to sort transfers out and in the meantime, Rafa’s not much nearer his Prem squad then he was in May.

What price economy eh? Ashley’s happy to play Spoof over legal bills, get pi$$ed with and offer jobs at NUFC to his drinking buddies, deal with transfer deals while pouring pints and chasers down his throat…….. He treats Newcastle United and its fans like a play-thing and is running the risk of relegation – again.

It’s not the lack of transfers it’s, the reportedly, squabbling over relatively small differences that is disappointing. We miss out on good players for a couple of million quid and end up with second or third choices and deadbeats like Riverie who are useless. It’s madness.

The way it is going in the transfer market that RAFA is not being given the funds he needs for the players he wants.

Then if RAFA buys astutely and keeps us up then will it not make him a better all-round manager and hopefully with monies build a better team.

Tony Pulls might play football that most people don’t like but I think he is one hell of a manager, as on what resources he has had, buying and selling players in the past he has never failed to keep his teams in the Premiership.

In other words would the top managers be able to manage teams where the funds are not available ?????

I advocated, on here, buying Traore at the end of last season. The guy has frightening pace and if coached right by Rafa could become unstoppable. Once he moves forward with the ball at his feet he is frightening.
Pace is vital in football now and that is something he has in abundance. Yes ideally it would be good to get him AND Townsend in as you can never have too many good attackers but if reports are right, and we haven’t got a huge kitty (why not?), we must aim for a top quality striker as I don’t think Gayle can carry the responsibility all on his own.
A really switched on mobile creative midfielder is also a must. Nasri here would be a no-brainer. I would row the boat out for his services.
Without this type of recruitment I fear the Toon could sink again this season and you know what happens to individuals who go under for a third time.

Ben Arfa didn’t even remotely pull his weight in the last season he was here. We don’t need more of his “Couldn’t be arsed” attitude. I’ll never forget or forgive his laughing with Liverpool players after yet another disgusting uninterested performance when we got beat 0-6 at home. That was the last straw with me.
    As for Townsend.
Move on. Although he DID put the effort in.
Samaris – the press and Benfica are whats behind a massively overpriced player of theirs who had been dropped and theyre trying to get shot of Worth HALF at most of what benfica claim we’ve bid (I personally think they haven’t. What ? This lot spend money ? And MORE than a players worth ?

He is a southerner. His girlfriend is a southern based model.
Pardew has gone. So has Hippoheed.
    He wasnt that good anyway.

expat – don’t take the bait – I think the blog’s newly formed even handed interventionists who abhor posters coming on to insult other posters will shortly make an appearance to take the trouble maker to task.
They will show us the way forward with their rebukes of offensive posters, trouble makers, scumbags, windbags, racists, gutter mouthed posters and crackerjack tantrum throwers. There’ll be no truck with only rebuking their “enemies” while bigging up their mates (see list above), heavens forbid.

You may ask -where were they to object to the base, foul, filthy gutter language from certain parties – good question – but lets see what the immediate future brings.

All these fans of other teams last summer saying we bought promotion. Ashley splashes the cash…no…we ended up in profit as we sold to buy..huddersfield are spending now to ensure survival as they know they will get 100m at the end of the season. Clearly the fat man thinks he will not be our owner or would sanction some big deals..no matter what that man says or does we continue to haggle and penny pinch and CLEARLY the regime do not learn from there mistakes. If we do not strengthen considerably we will be relegated once again. This is the premier league the richest league in the world, the tv money the rewards..even the promoted new boys get it..sspeculating to accumulate.WHY THE FXXK cant we…

Seen that we were linked with jota again yesterday and saw lots of people criticising on here because of all sorts of reasons. I personally don’t care if a player is not a big name, or a statement signing and all that bs. If he’s a good a player then I’m happy to have him in the club. For what it’s worth jota is a very good footballer and if those criticising his signing have seen him play then they would agree. Reckon those who just criticise certain signings should at least suggest their own players for similar fees in similar positions. It’s quite annoying to see just criticism and nothing else.

Would look at Rico Henry too at Brentford. The only thing I would say is jota plays primarily on the right wing and moves inside a lot, we already have Ritchie and atsu for the rw so not sure how he would fit in unless he would be pencilled in for the 10 role.

Linked with traore again too who is primarily a right winger also. Has great qualities but doesn’t seem to have a football brain and good coaching can only take him so far in terms of knowing when to pass, shoot etc. Get it right though and what a player we would have.

£17 million is a lot like but he’s a good player. If we did buy him then we’ll finally have someone who can control and dictate a game. Something I’ve said we’ve lacked for a some time and something that Shelvey cannot do as of yet. His passing and distribution is very good. The only question mark for me is if he can adapt to the pace of the premiership. If he can then we’ll have a good cm who could play well with either Hayden or Shelvey.
