Rafa Still Interested In This 21 Year-Old Top Spanish Prospect

It was back on June 23rd that we were first linked with former Barcelona winger Adama Traore, who is now playing his trade at Middlesbrough and is expected to be made available by Boro this summer.

That news was in the Mail and the Chronicle is also reporting that we are still interested in the 21 year-old, who would provide significant speed in the Newcastle team if we can get him.

The youngster last season played for Middlesbrough, where he made 31 appearances and it seems Chelsea are also interested in signing the youngster along with West Ham United.

21 year-old Middlesbrough winger Adama Traore

Rafa wants to add pace to his team for those quick counter-attacks  we introduced to our game since Rafa has arrived – and Traore certainly has pace and he could be an exciting signing for Newcastle.

Traore started his career with Barcelona, appearing mainly for the Barcelona B team and two years ago he signed on with Aston Villa and when they were relegated last year he moved on  to Middlesbrough.

So he’s suffered two seasons of relegation in a row so it would be good to join Newcastle to stop the rot.

Adama joined Aston Villa on a five-year deal in 2015 for a reported £7M, but at the time  Barcelona inserted a three-year buy-back clause in that contract.

He has represented Spain at U-16, U-17 and U-19 levels and we would assume Rafa knows a lot about this player from his many contacts in Spain.

He usually plays on the right wing but he can also play on the left wing too and even up front as a striker.

He played four times with one goal for Barcelona and then 12 times with one goal for Aston Villa, before making 31 appearances for Middlesbrough (24 in PL) last season without scoring.

We are said to have made an inquiry for the player back in late June so we are hoping Rafa will follow that up with a solid bid for a player who could be a great buy for us next season, when Rafa can get the very best out of the young Spaniard.

He’s certainly not the finished product yet and his play doesn’t always have that end product, but under  world-class manager Rafa Benitez at Newcastle – that could all change.

We are hoping that Traore will be available for less than £10M – but we shall see.

What do you think?

Just had a quick peak at PL stats with a defensive Boro last season. 16 apps, no goals and 1 assist. My pulse is not racing.

Is it best just to ignore The overated French man or to point out to him that Benitez’s disastrous transfer dealings last year got us promoted as Champions.

ToFs just doing some leg stretches and light jogging to warm up for the big show when the transfer window ends and we’ve had a couple of trash results in the preseason friendlies.

I would still take him over Gouffy, Rafa could educate him into a good player

Aye let’s see what transpires on a rugby blog. Always complaining people don’t talk footy on a footy blog it’s like wide world of sports on here with some characters. Alright mention a few notables but the running commentary on every sport from pelota to buzkashi is pants.

Saw a lot of him last season. Very quick but dribbles too much, runs down blind alleys….no end product
