Report – Newcastle Ready To Make Their Move For Andros Townsend

We put out an article yesterday wondering if 25 year-old Andros Townsend who played so well for us in the first part of last year was still a transfer target, after Rafa wanted him signed in the January transfer market but Newcastle didn’t get the job done at that time.

But now there is news coming from the local paper down in Croydon – the Croydon Advertiser – that Newcastle are ready to make their move for the England International.

Andros Townsend and Rafa Benitez in last game PL game of  last year
We won 5-1 against Spurs in case you had forgotten

The release clause of ÂŁ13M was in Andros’ contract in January and we assume that release clause can still be activated.

And as we said yesterday he would be a great buy at just ÂŁ13M in today’s transfer market, but only if he is keen to rejoin the Rafalution on Tyneside.

Rafa has made it clear he only wants players who want to play for Newcastle at the club, but since the two of them have a great working relationship, we are hoping Andros will jump at the chance to return.

A massive 85% of fans in our poll in mid-January would be ready to welcome him back.

Would You Take Andros Townsend Back At Newcastle?

  • Yes (85%, 7,647 )
  • No (15%, 1,377 )

Total Voters: 9,024

Andros has played 13 times for Newcastle with 4 goals and 2 assists – so far.

We think the signing of the 13 times capped England International soon – would lift the spirits of everybody associated with Newcastle United at this crucial time.

I fully expect this signing to go through. It fits perfectly into the mould of the breathtakingly brainless transfer policy of the Charnley -Benitez horror show.

I ain’t feeling the love for this guy but the millions we thought were available to Rafa clearly aren’t there, or else we are making offers that are too low. As it is, we are relegation material so let’s hope Fats smells the coffee fast.

jane is not interested in rugby. Presumably because “jane” does not make an appearance during rugby games, as Jib needs his right hand free to control the remote..

Not totally against the idea of Townsend, but think (if this story is true) we should be setting our sights a bit higher.

It’s a tough transfer window that has become very frustrating, but that might be down to player prices being over inflated due to the vast amounts of money floating around in the premiership, seems everyone wants a slice of it.

With Everton throwing money around like confetti clubs think they are entitled to add 60 or 70 percent to the value of their players so this window will not be easy, especially for the newly promoted clubs.

I think Rafa and the board will be working hard to try and strike the right deals for the club, but are we still going for value for money pound for pound? As Ashley once said, or will Rafa be given a little more leeway in his efforts to strengthen the squad?

Another point is maybe that we still have a lot of players on our books, and might well need to wait for offers to get them out before we can replace them like I said this is a tough window for us.

Needs must. Yeah bring him back as long as he isn’t asking for a stellar wage. Good player at the price if that’s what he is available for. Did a number on us when we went down like. Got a lot to prove to us again, but maybe that’s what he needs.

One of Benitez better attributes is his ability to
forget past wrangles and move on .
If Townsend was party to Fat Sam’s tomfoolery
last January it will be ignored.

I know this is getting tired to some but bring back HBA on a free he loved it here and we loved him, Pardew shoved him to the side but the lad has unfinished business here. Deal makes total sense guess that would be to much to ask.

Give me Traore over Townsend too please.

I’d take Townsend back in the blink of an eye however I can’t see HBA as a player that Rafa would bring back – HBA has absolutely fantastic talent when he’s “in the mood” but he’s far to lazy to fit in with what Rafa would want at Newcastle United. Sadly HBA has had numerous clubs since leaving The Toon….. does that not tell it’s own story?

I’d love to think I’m wrong about HBA but somehow I don’t see it!
