Rafa Still Keen On This Talented Central Midfielder – But At The Right Price

News in the Mail today that Rafa Benitez is still interested in 27 year-old Manchester City’s England central midfielder Fabian Delph, but at £12M it’s not looking like a good deal for Newcastle at the moment.

It’s obvious that Rafa rates the former Aston Villa playmaker and it’s definitely expected that Fabian will leave the Manchester club this summer and City would prefer a permanent deal.

Fabian has had a bit of a miserable time of it since he signed for City two years ago from Villa for around £8M – and he’s made only 39 appearances in that time – mostly as a late sub – but he still managed to score four goals.

It seems that Stoke are in the lead to sign him, unless Newcastle come up with an offer that meets City’s evaluation of their 9 times capped England International.

What Rafa is said to like about Fabian is his mobility in midfield and as we keep hearing, Rafa is not too happy – at least at the moment – with Newcastle’s transfer business this summer, which has been a little slow and cumbersome so far.

But a couple of new players signed in the next couple of weeks will do a lot to lift the mood at Newcastle.

While at Aston Villa for six years before joining City, Fabian played 134 times with 8 goals and had 8 assists.

Delph is a good technical player and Rafa could certainly bring out the best in him, because this lad certainly has the skills and the ability – he just needs to play and who knows he could become part of the England setup again under Gareth Southgate with regular games for Newcastle.

Earlier in the summer we thought we could get Delph for around £6M given he cost £8M two years ago – but that doesn’t look possible now with this summer’s inflated transfer prices.

What do you think?

Shocked ppl think navas would be a good signing, he can’t cross, is 31 and losing his pace soon which is his only asset. Think he’s got 1 goal in 100 odd games for a team like man city, his assists stats are horrible. All that for an attacking team full of stars and he’s been utter phish. Stay well clear

    On Navas

Yeah I’m assuming it’s another fabrication. I hope so, because if we are trying to get him it’s worrying, smacks of desperation / panic buy.

Becareful stating facts about Footballers, MA and the club in general, you’ll get slated for it, too many think things are hunky dory on this blog and don’t like hearing other wise. No wonder MA gets away with his regime.

Yeah I have noticed mate, fans seem to think all will be well as Rafa is in charge, in reality it’s Ashley whose in charge and rafa reports to Ashley. We need a at least a couple of signings this week and they have to be quality

Moeen will have fun on this wicket but Rashid would absolutely rip it up.

Hibbit – I thought the saying was opposites attract. More chance of you and welshie being married wouldn’t you say?

My seat is in the Gallowgate, just about as far East as you can get without being in the corner section.
I see you are in the corner! That will be a good craic… I can’t see the boys in there moving to the singing section up a-height.
