Good News – Jacob Murphy Turns Down Another Club – Wants Newcastle Move

We need to some good news in the transfer market with Geordie fans trying to be as patient as they can – but with only one new player signed that adds to last season’s squad – Florian Lejeune –  it’s not easy.

But there’s some good news coming from our pursuit of Jacob Murphy – Jacob seems to have already turned down another club because he wants to move to Newcastle United.

Press Association is reporting that Newcastle have today opened fresh negotiations for Jacob but that the two clubs are still way apart in terms of the valuation.

22 year-old Norwich winger Jacob Murphy

Here’s a positive tweet from Lee Ryder today:

This is the report from PA today about Jacob Murphy:

Newcastle are attempting to thrash out a deal with Norwich for England Under-21 international Jacob Murphy.

Press Association Sport understands fresh discussions were due to take place on Thursday with the Magpies having failed in an earlier bid to sign the winger.

It is understood the player has indicated his willingness to hear what Newcastle have to say as manager Rafael Benitez attempts to secure a third summer signing, but that the two clubs have markedly different valuations.

Maybe Newcastle can agree to an upfront fee of say £10M in cool cash – and then have some add-ons – should Jacob prove to be a big success on Tyneside.

That would mean we pay those bonuses later and it would be worth it to us if he does very well at Newcastle.

We really hope Newcastle can make a breakthrough and sign Murphy for Newcastle before the week is out.

It’s fairly obvious he would be a popular signing with Newcastle fans and he’s a good young player, although he is still untested at the highest levels.

With Rafa coaching him, this lad could become a full England International down the road.

And one last thing here’s Jacob and his twin Josh in Newcastle strips some 22 years ago – circa 1995

Now here’s the question – which one is Jacob?\

I hope we don’t lose out to another club for a couple of million quid her, especially for a player who really wants to be here.

    nightfa 11,
That seems a decent deal, although I wouldn’t care if we paid whatever it is the other two clubs are offering as well.

Yedders, Ritchie ,Dummet and Murphy on both flanks, Shelvey and Hayden and Dejong and Gayle through the middle
Lejeune and mbemba with Kul behind them.
Not bad , we have hardly any cover though, Aaron’s, Atsu, Diame, Perez Mitro, Saivet, lascelles and Clark,Haidara and gamez Elliot and Darlow

I suppose that’s 2 full teams to mix and match, I think there will be a few who leave too, Riviere, colback, lazaar to name but a few.
Most will think that these teams aren’t good enough to compete in the prem, and I agree apart from the Rafa factor…….he can make a silk purse from a sows ear.
We shouldn’t have enough with what we have but Leicester are the exception to the rule, they created the perfect storm and capitalized on what they had……we may do the same, I would be a lot happier with reinforcements but as long as we have Rafa ,we have a chance , however small our squad is quality wise, Rafa is a multiplication factor through organization, we proved it last year, no pretty football every week but consistent points collection and we were a team, everyone fought for the cause, some more than others but fought nevertheless.

How on earth did I leave a blank post!

Now that young Murphy’s keen to come to SJP, it’s an opportunity for Charnley and Ashley/ Barnes to show Rafa they’re backing him

Balls this one up and there’ll be hell on.

I wonder if cAshley say’s to harry hill “harry you have 50 million to spend, anything you save out of that you can keep as a bonus” It would make sense as he certainly hates spending money.
I see that lee ryder the reliable journalist has now called himself a prominent journalist 🙂 what an arse he is.You cant go on the chronicle site without seeing the bald eagle on video, and all those flaming pop up adverts.Thank god for this site.Has ryder ever a scoop, and I don’t mean ice cream.

Don’t know why Newcastle are messing about
4 weeks till the season starts and there haggling over a few million
It’s went from 8 to 12 players through the door to at least 4 more
Let’s be honest if we are relegated he will be kicking himself we never stumped up the money
And how we are struggling for cash regardless weather other clubs where awarded more TVs money is beyond me
    The blokes a billionaire
If he establishes us in the prem and gets into Europe our value must be heading towards a billion pounds and if he gets us champions league he could probs sell us for 2 billion based on Man City’s value
It’s time now that we accept the inflated prices
Injectim another 20 million into our budget and ensure we get the right players for Rafa to do his job
At the end of the season when we are relagated everyone outside of Newcastle will be laughing at Ashley when they work out the money lost because he would stretch a few million here and there on various targets
    It’s rediculous
Personally if we don’t stump up the cash in this window and build a decent squad I will be handing in my season ticket regardless of the money I lose and will not be returning until Ashley is history

    Enough is enough
We need action and we need players in who will have at least 2 to 3 weeks to meet and settle in the squad
When Crystal Palace can outbid you in the transfer market it’s a very sad day
