The news over the last few days has been that Championship club Middlesbrough have won the race to sign the talented 20 year-old Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo loan for the season.
But today the Mirror have just come out with a report that Newcastle are still in with a chance of signing the talented Liverpool winger.
The key is that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants his winger to get lots of playing time next season and it’s that reason why Jurgen may prefer Middlesbrough.
20 year-old Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo
But the Mirror says Newcastle are fighting it out with Middlesbrough to get a player that has admired for a while now.
But Ojo would almost be guaranteed a starting place at Middlesbrough but the Mirror is reporting that playing in the Premier League with Newcastle and for Rafa Benitez is appealing to the youngster.
In fact it seems that Rafa tried his best to get Ojo on loan last season in the Championship but was not successful.
Newcastle are looking for season long loans this coming season because we are a bit short of funds – and don’t have the financial capacity of other Premier League clubs because we have been down below for a season.
Another bad consequence of being relegated from the Premier League last year.
It would be great if we can sign Sheyi Ojo and it seems the lad is keen to play Premier League football this season.
What do you think?

Comment #1I thought Liverpool were averse to loaning him to another Premiership club?

I’m just surprised that a player who is clearly not part of Koeman’s planning should get a start in such a prestigious match.
This is not just another run of the mill friendly kick about – Gor Mahia are a big club
All the new signings Wayne Rooney , Davy Klaassen, Michael Keane, Jordan Pickford and Sandro Ramirez will feature

Comment #5Valencia manager Marcelino (no not that one) doesn’t have Alvaro Negredo in his plans.
The Spanish club could be amenable to a loan just to get his PL style wages of their books

Comment #6Good to see various hatchets being buried on the blog. 🙂 Mr T, looks like we set a fine example there marra, let’s hope it’s a sign of things to come. Nothing wrong with a heated discussion now and then as long as it gets left in the blog history bucket. Once done it’s done. Move on and Happy days. 🙂
Out and about just now, relying on my Giff gaff mobile to connect to the blog. Still no news then I take it?
Still, we want him, he want us, almost sounds like a song about to break out! 🙂 Can Penfold get him over the line? No reason why not.

Comment #7Be nice to see Pickford drop a couple of clangers Jib. 30m smackers might be a price to make his fingers turn a bit buttery. Now that would be funny. 🙂

Comment #10Sellers market at the moment. Cannot blame other clubs trying to get more cash when selling their players – even though their values are hiked up. We did the same with Le Sulk.
Agree with Jail – bit of football “poker” going on at the minute – who blinks first.
Still trying to find out who these hordes of wild Scotsmen were who were spotted in the West End in 1968 – might have been a shopping trip or something like that.

Do you not remember our home game against Rangers in the semi
of the ICFC 1968 ?
The Ginger hordes came down to fight what thy thought were soft Englishmen
That’s when the chant
“Just because your’e losing” started when they invaded the pitch.
Andy Gray was a young “bluenose” who came down in a coach as a schoolboy
He went back to Glasgow in a windowless vehicle.
😀
That was always given as a reason why he hated the Toon.

Comment #17Jib – I was at the match that night. We always stood at the halfway line, halfway up in the Poplar Side. I can say the wild hordes had everybody terrified. a load of them came along the cinder track offering fights, throwing bottles. People were shit scared – nobody had seen anything like it before.
