Newcastle Go All Out To Sign Jacob Murphy – Will Ask For Transfer If Necessary

Newcastle are ready to make a new offer for Norwich City winger Jacob Murphy, with the news today that Jacob now wants the Newcastle move and is even prepared to put in a transfer request at the Canaries to force the move to the Magpies.

Newcastle have already put in a £8M bid for Jacob, which was immediately turned down and now we will go back  with an offer said to be at least £10M.

22 year-old Norwich City winger Jacob Murphy

Murphy’s reps met with the Norwich City hierarchy in an effort to force through the move to Newcastle and now it seems Norwich have a player with itchy feet.who is 22 years old and wants to move to a bigger club than Norwich City and a chance to play in the Premier League.

The news is in the Northern Echo and say Murphy’s reps made it clear of their client’s determination to force through a move to a club Jacob has supported since he was a baby.

You cannot blame the 22 year-old for being ambitious – he wants to move to a bigger club than Norwich City and a chance to play in the Premier League next season.

Having a disgruntled player is always difficult for any club, but there is still no agreement on the fee and in fact, Norwich were wanting a ridiculous £16M for the player, after £12M had been their initial asking price.

It’s probably in the best interests of both clubs (we hope it’s in the best interests of both clubs)  that a compromise agreement is reached soon.

Newcastle will push hard to get what will be a substantial breakthrough this summer, in what has been an extremely difficult transfer window so far.

It also looks like free agent Yoan Gouffran has been offered a better offer than he got from Newcastle from Turkish club Goztepe SK and Mehmet Sepil, Goztepe’s Chairman has said the deal is very close to being completed.

That will take another player off Newcastle’s roster, but the main thing at the moment is the club brings in some of Rafa’s top transfer targets – soon.

Comments welcome.

We all keep saying time will tell in the next two weeks, They go by and it’s the next two weeks and before you know it Spuds are upon us.
If Rafa wasn’t at the helm I would be deeply worried now as Rafa hasn’t got his wish in bringing players in before pre season starts.
I just hope we don’t end up in the last few weeks of the transfer window buying Desperardos and end up making the squad weaker than it already is

It’s hard to judge who’s worth what nowadays.
Aka goes to Bournemouth for 20 mill. Then Chalobah only goes for 5 to Watford.
How do ya put a price on a player from the Championship??

Why are we getting all excited by another winger. We need a left back, right back, central midfield and a world class striker first.

Why do all our transfers – both in and out – take sooooo long?

Ed’s bus moved on….so my reply was left stranded at end of last thread. But I agree. Fooling around during the window and then panic buying “desperadoes” will lead to more Saivet type signings.

BTW The article Jesper sent via link on Saivet was a eye opener…

Kimbo – who’s the world class striker that we could get and how much are we going to pay? I really don’t think we’ll be after a left back, Dummy got his new contract (4 or 5 years I can’t remember) and we have Lazaar. Yeddlin, Gamez & Sterry at right back. In my opinion a left wing and centre mid should be priority

Trust Charnley/ Ashley/ Barnes to pox this one up as well. Like the other supposed targets they’ve missed, the terms should’ve been established weeks ago.

Rafa must be fuming at the scheming and/ or incompetence at NUFC

The reported deal for us to bring in Randolph while West Ham sign Hart sounds like we are coming second best in that deal

    No thanks

On the subject of contract lengths it is a bit of a double edged sword. If you only give the player a short contract length then when it is finished they can go to another club with no transfer fee so we lose out. Also when a player’s agent is negotiating his contract we may have to offer a longer contract to persuade him to come e.g. Murphy probably won’t come for a 2 year contract he will expect longer. So while it is easy with hindsight for a player like Saivet to say we should have only given him a 2 year contract in practice it is not as simple as that!

Hang on……. If we originally offered £8m over a week ago and Ed’s suggesting we’re ready to increase the bid to £10m……… Ready to increase it…….wtf have these useless gits been doing over the last week – waiting for Norwich to reduce the fee?

This one looks more and more like Rafa drawing his line in the sand. Penfold, get him or else! The lad wants to come, has turned down at least one other club and is prepared to put in a transfer request. There really are no excuses on this one. At 22, bags of potential, likely to double in value in years – fits the transfer policy perfectly.

£12 million + add-ons, 10 + Murph, saving on the shirts, too. The 2 can just swa tops when we meet.
Easy, I’ll be off to Norwich later to drive the lad up here, for his medical. 😮

I’ve heard a rumour that the Toon are on the verge of thinking about considering the possibility of approaching a PL rival about their star striker. Newcastle are willing to break their club record to get their man provided the other club will accept a 1/3 deposit, 36 monthly payments and a final 1/3 balance. Newcastle also want Nectar points!
There is another deal in the pipeline for an established PL defender. The sticking point here, however, is that the club want £125 for him and Newcastle consider that an over evaluation and won’t go higher than £90.45 unless they throw in a marinara meatball Subway.
