Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez is looking for a new goalkeeper and we have been linked with a number of them this summer but one we still seem to be interested in who has a lot of Premier League experience is West Ham’s Spanish goalkeeper Adrian.
After Darren Randolph was allowed to leave the club last week for Middlesbrough a number of fans thought that Adrian would be kept as back-up to England goalkeeper Joe Hart who is on a season loan deal to the London club from Manchester City.
But Adrian has been told he can still leave according to a report in the Mail yesterday and it wouldn’t surprise us too much if Adrian is one of the goalkeepers Rafa is looking to sign for Newcastle.
30-year-old experienced Premier League goalkeeper Adrian
The 30-year-old should not be too expensive either although he still has two years left on his contract at the Hammers.
Other goalkeepers we have been interested in this summer include Pepe Reina, Kiko Casilla of Real Madrid and Geek International Orestis Karnezis.
We were interested in Darren Randolph but he will be going to Middlesbrough and we didn’t think he was any better than we already have at the club.
Most fans seem to prefer Real Madrid’s Kiko Casilla in the poll we are running.
But Rafa will have to move fairly quickly to get a new goalkeeper in since it looks as though he no longer rates 26-year-old Karl Darlow – even after the Englishman had such a good season for us as first team goalkeeper last term.
Rafa has also said he would like to bring players to Newcastle who have Premier League experience and Adrian has played 106 times in the Premier League for four seasons at West Ham.
