Rafa Benitez Hasn’t Given Up Signing This Top Striker On Loan For The Season

With the expected signing today of 21-year-old Spanish holding midfielder  Mikel Merino – Rafa Benitez will now turn his attention to signing a striker – a position that needs to be strengthened in the side.

Things would have been a lot easier for us last season if we had another natural goalscorer in the ranks – in addition to Dwight Gayle – but we missed too many chances and made things more difficult for ourselves than they should have been.

And there’s news in the Chronicle that Rafa wants to bring 23-year-old Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi in on loan for the season.

The news is that Rafa thought about trying to sign the former Marseille striker earlier this summer but it was uncertain at that time what was going to happen with top Blues striker Diego Costa.

Chelsea has now signed Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morato for a massive £75M and therefore the Belgian striker will be down the pecking order once again at The Blues – as he was last season.

And it looks like Antonio Conte is not finished bringing in strikers to the club this summer and there are rumors he also wants Swansea striker Fernando Llorente, who had a very good second half of last season.

It’s going to be very difficult for Rafa to get the 23-year-old striker on loan but if that happens, Rafa will likely want an option in the loan deal to buy him next summer. and at that time we will have more money after getting a payout of around £125M from the Premier League if we finish in the middle of the league table.

At that time we will have more money after getting a payout of around £125M from the Premier League next May if we finish in the middle of the league table.

It would also help with the money this summer if we can get a good striker in on loan and if that happens Rafa is likely to sell Aleksandar Mitrovic for around £18M.

But we should still have money to bring in a striker we could sign permanently for something over £20M this summer.

A season long loan deal for Michy Batshuayi would be a coup for Newcastle United.

What do you think?

I would like to see this, but what wages is he on? Being at Chelski it might be a wee bit much for us

not too bad then, hopefully Rafa is allowed that much, or maybe Chelsea will part subsidize his wages.

I think that’s manageable. Colo was on 80 in sky sport “financial crisis era” 🙂 plus he might settle for less to become a first choice striker. We’ll see 🙂

Not sure. We’ll find out soon enough 🙂 I would be surprised if Rafa signs an ? keeper though. It appears he’s searching for a keeper/captain.

Seeing quite a lot of articles saying we might swap Darlow for Adrian?

The ball it seems is in Batman’s court then? Does he want to play PL games or hang about in the shadow of massive egos in London?
Would be delighted if we got him, real cutting edge to our attack, fast / mobile and apparently knows where the goal is.
Hope he’s not just on the Twitter wind up, cos it’s worked! 🙂
    Even bladeboy would be pleased!
Getting excited now! Howay the lads…13th is coming!
