Newcastle Reported Interested In New 27-Year-Old International Striker Target For £10M

There’s a report in the Sun that Newcastle is one of the clubs interested in signing Everton striker Oumar Niasse.

He is 27 years-old and has played 8 times with 3 goals for Senegal but has seen very precious playing time at the Toffees since joining them back in February of last year for a fee of around £13.5M.

He joined on on a four-and-a-half year deal from Lokomotiv Moscow after spending two seasons in Russia where he scored 19 goals with 14 assists in 42 total appearances.

27-year-old Everton striker Oumar Niasse

He has made just 7 first team appearances for Everton.

There’s interest in him now since he had a half season loan at Hull City this year and scored 5 goals in just 13 appearances for the Tigers.

Other Premier League clubs like Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion are also interested in signing him, and the Sun reports that Brighton is in the lead to sign him.

Like some other players at Everton, manager Ronald Koeman has told Niassehe he has no future at the Goodison Park club.

Koeman wants him off the wage bill next season, so he is willing to send him out on loan for the season with an option to buy him next year.

That kind of deal attracts PL clubs with little money to spend compared to mid-table PL clubs and higher – that includes newly promoted Newcastle – at least for this summer.

The Toffees want about £10M for the 6ft tall striker.

It’s not clear how keen Rafa is to bring in the 27-year-old with Brighton manager Chris Hughton seeming to be a lot more interested in his capture.

But he would provide Newcastle with something up front for a small outlay this summer – but the big question is whether he is any better than what we already have at the club – that’s the real issue for the Magpies.

His form for Hull this year is the bright spot.

What do you think?

Nope, we really need a top proven striker and a GK – Reina for the latter, would still seriously consider Carroll for the former.

I’d rather keep Mitro and give him the ball up the pitch rather than him having to drop to 1/2 way to pick it up……..he will score ,he’s young and already has more goals than niasse in the premier league

    Agreed. 5 in 13 isn’t good enough.

Most of our signings have hardly been linked to us at all until the deal was on the table, so I don’t believe a word of it.

If you aren’t able to get a copy of “Rafa’s Way” at a book shop over there you could try by post on NUFC.com. I bought my copy and his other 2 that way if it’s any help.

Like the look of this guy.
His scoring record along with his assists is good. The fact that it would be a loan deal fits in with our present state of poverty, and he has experience in the PL.
Is he better than Mitro ? I’d take a chance on him being an upgrade on the Serb.

Andy Carroll is a great striker but he’s just not resilient enough. We’ve got a checkered history of great attackers and strikers who spent much more time on the treatment table than on the pitch. Duncan Ferguson, Alan Smith, Michael Owen etc. Frustrating and a waste of precious cash. I’m sure Andy would be another full time crock.

can’t believe people still want carroll. if he wasn’t a geordie no one would touch him.
no good being great on his day if his day is less than 10 games a season.

Shane Long would be my choice might not score 20 plus but the team will be better with him in it. Batsuyaui if he can be signed would be a major coup.

Worst first touch and passing of ANY PLAYER EVER!! I’d rather keep Riviere.
