It Could Be The End Of The Road For This Honest Newcastle Player

News today that will come as no real surprise to some Newcastle fans – local lad Jack Colback is ready to be left out of Newcastle’s 25-man Premier League squad for next season.

The Shields Gazette is reporting that it believes Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez does not intend to name Jack in his squad.

The news for the last week or two – which has been incessant – is that Rafa is not entirely happy with the way things are going with his Newcastle squad with just four days to go before we play Tottenham Hotspur in the first game of the Premier League.

We need to beat Tottenham on Sunday, and that will show that we’re not as bad off as some pundits think – after all, we still have Rafa Benitez – and he’s one of the very best managers in the world.

Fact.

Jack Colback – in his home town colors – those of Newcastle United

It appears Newcastle just don’t have enough money in what has been another massive increase in transfer fees this summer and we can be outspent by most of the Premier League clubs this summer.

While Rafa’s not happy, we think he realizes this summer is a one-off, and we are still suffering from being relegated last year.

Anyway, that’s what we think – it’s not as dire as some are painting the situation on Tyneside.

Jack Colback is an honest player but may not be good enough for what Rafa is looking for in the future from Newcastle players.

However, Jack did play most games in Newcastle’ pre-season campaign up to last week’s great 3-1 win at Wolfsburg.

If this is true, it will be a blow to the local lad who was brought up like most of us born in Newcastle – passionately supporting the club.

Colback joined us controversially on a free transfer three years ago from Sunderland, and of course, Jack joined the Sunderland Youth Academy way back in 2000 at the age of 10.

The 27-year-old would be an excellent acquisition for some Championship club looking to be promoted back to the Premier League this season.

Maybe his former Sunderland manager Steve Bruce – now at Aston Villa – would be interested in signing him?

We have nothing bad to say about Jack at all – he is a Geordie whose dream was to play for Newcastle United, and he is likely to be a little devastated if this news is accurate.

But life goes on.

Jack has played a total of  102 games for Newcastle with 5 goals and 10 assists over three seasons.

Comments welcome.

Those are very decent hopeful predictions hibbit. Well said. I remain poised with my fongbat near Charnley however. It wouldn’t take much to set me off Lee. I’ll go Pompeii on your ass….

That 5 year contract of Saivet’s is looking a real stinker now lads….. How much to buy him out? Not going to happen but I can’t see how else to get rid of. Or is he worth keeping to collect his pay packet on the bench or with the reserves? I don’t know…..

Apparently Bruce wants to buy Lee Charnley from us jesper mate. We’re just lining the deal up now. It involves lots of performance add-ons. And Lee gets to throw his feces at Bruce for a change.

Tbf the way we do or not do business is nothing new, it’s that having to part with the money part that just gets in the way.
What a absolute fk up we’ve had ages to get our transfer business sorted.
Rafa’s patients is bound to snap, that could cause catastrophic consequences if he walks.

Now now Jib. Did somebody forget to change your water bowl? I realize they have spent money as well as made it oh childish one. But the timing of player purchases is fairly important as well. I don’t normally respond to you but why not this time? Try to avoid personal insults and you might do far better on here. Or why not just leave the blog? There would be celebrations.

We’ll just have to see if Bruce has any cash remaining jesper mate. I think Colback would suit him. I always thought he was limited in his ability but played hard for us. Time will tell but we do have to move a few on before the window closes.

Don’t blame Charnley for the ‘mistakes’ Rafa’s identified. Last summer’s sales and recruitment show that Charnley can work quickly when he has to – he and Rafa had responsibility for rebuilding the squad for the Championship. Charnley seems to be the sort who does what’s asked of him.

You may have lost sight of the fact that Ashley dropped Barnes into the Club – ostensibly to shape the Club with a view to investment. Utter bullshit! Barnes was brought in over Charnley’s head leaving the MD to reportedky run finances through him before proceeding – in other words, Barnes became Ashley’s puppet, controlling finances with Charnley, the MD having been well and truly neutered.

As far as the dithering’s concerned, if Barnes wants to frustrate things all he’s got to do is take his time over things until any potential targets have gone elsewhere. If he was supportive, deals would surely have been completed in time.

Ashley, despite his commitment to let the so-called board run the Club, he’s reverted to type by appointing Barnes to do his bidding.

Regarding Lucas Perez, if Rafa’s had a conversation with Wenger, he’ll have a feel for what’s needed to sign the lad and will no doubt tell Charnley what he’s learned and ask him to complete the deal. If negotiations fail I’m sure Rafa’d be keen to find out why.

If Rafa ever walked, which he will at some point. There would be hell on with the fans.
Then things would eventually settle down, SJP would still be full to watch dross football followed by relegation then after that I don’t know what would happen to the club as we know it.

Excellent comment lesh. Yes there have been a lot of rumours around the role of Barnes. But Charnley did plenty of dithering over the years as well, obviously caused by Ashley. I don’t think it matters who is doing the dithering or causing the dithering. It all comes back to Ashley and the idiots he has put in charge over the last 10 years. And he’s playing the same game now with the best manager we’ll ever bring in under him. All the horrible contracts we’re left with are the result of mismanagement. Every club has some failures with player acquisition and sales but not every club has been relegated twice in the last 10 years.

Is it beyond Charnley to make a deal whereby Perez gets a sizeable signing on fee to offset pitching his wages at the similar level to our top earners ( Shelvey ? ) . That way in theory the dressing room is more equitable and we get our man and a couple of his compadres as well please.

We also sold more than just sissy and wijnaldum. Townsend, janmaat, cisse, tiote and cabella for another 30 mil. There should ostensibly be over 20 million leftover from last window as g2 was trying to say. Unless atsu cost us 20 million to loan last year

In regards to players who play well enough early in their career to indicate some “potential” and then land a big contract (long term and relatively high wages) only to then sit on their a$$es and no longer put in an honest effort….(ex. Rivierre, Saivet, Lazaar, etc). Certainly this mentality is somewhat common in professional sports!

You would think with the huge amounts of money in play that teams would hire some psychologists to develop a personality profile or analysis and have transfer prospects undergo these “tests”. It is hard for a tree to survive and thrive with so much deadwood hanging off it…

With us getting rid of the likes of Vurnon Anita, it was obvious that Colback would be leaving. Unfortunately nobody is interested in buying him, which means we’ll just have to release him. Getting rid of him will save us 15 points this season.

Forget Villa coming in for Colback. Bruce has already stated that Xia told him there are FFP restrictions that need to be adhered to – they have no money to spend!
