It Could Be The End Of The Road For This Honest Newcastle Player

News today that will come as no real surprise to some Newcastle fans – local lad Jack Colback is ready to be left out of Newcastle’s 25-man Premier League squad for next season.

The Shields Gazette is reporting that it believes Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez does not intend to name Jack in his squad.

The news for the last week or two – which has been incessant – is that Rafa is not entirely happy with the way things are going with his Newcastle squad with just four days to go before we play Tottenham Hotspur in the first game of the Premier League.

We need to beat Tottenham on Sunday, and that will show that we’re not as bad off as some pundits think – after all, we still have Rafa Benitez – and he’s one of the very best managers in the world.

Jack Colback – in his home town colors – those of Newcastle United

It appears Newcastle just don’t have enough money in what has been another massive increase in transfer fees this summer and we can be outspent by most of the Premier League clubs this summer.

While Rafa’s not happy, we think he realizes this summer is a one-off, and we are still suffering from being relegated last year.

Anyway, that’s what we think – it’s not as dire as some are painting the situation on Tyneside.

Jack Colback is an honest player but may not be good enough for what Rafa is looking for in the future from Newcastle players.

However, Jack did play most games in Newcastle’ pre-season campaign up to last week’s great 3-1 win at Wolfsburg.

If this is true, it will be a blow to the local lad who was brought up like most of us born in Newcastle – passionately supporting the club.

Colback joined us controversially on a free transfer three years ago from Sunderland, and of course, Jack joined the Sunderland Youth Academy way back in 2000 at the age of 10.

The 27-year-old would be an excellent acquisition for some Championship club looking to be promoted back to the Premier League this season.

Maybe his former Sunderland manager Steve Bruce – now at Aston Villa – would be interested in signing him?

We have nothing bad to say about Jack at all – he is a Geordie whose dream was to play for Newcastle United, and he is likely to be a little devastated if this news is accurate.

But life goes on.

Jack has played a total of  102 games for Newcastle with 5 goals and 10 assists over three seasons.

Comments welcome.

Don’t know why people are thinking we are going to get Perez when a lot of reports are saying he’s going back to Spain.

Aye, years of mismanagement and bargain basement buying has left us with a bunch of just not good enough players on high wages who will not leave the NUFC cash cow for less.

Not being able to create the space needed for our new recruits makes buying even harder. We have to keep the wage bill under control so the money could be there to buy players but not enough to pay their wages.

The hike in prices hasn’t helped either and greedy agents wanting some of that Sky money whether we have it or not is making life in the transfer market near impossible for the likes of us this season.

We need another three players, but with the way things are, I’d settle for a decent striker.

Ashley gave Rafa a commitment, only then he installed Barns to ensure it wouldn’t be adhered to, Shame!!!

Just read Rafas comments, good old Mikey saviour of the club has sold him a pup. Absolutely nothing to lose, ST’s sold and a guaranteed pot of Sky money either way. Unless something happens next summer after survival we’ve got Rafa for another two years and he’ll be gone. What a crying shame that two men can sit at a table and agree on a realistic plan to move us forward yet one of them had no intention of providing success.

Interviews would work! But psychological screenings for job applicants in many fields is becoming more and more common. And for most of these jobs the financial risk of hiring a “slacker” or “coaster” is not nearly as great!

So Rafa meets the press and informs them he’s not happy and with the transfer situation! Well that’s a surprise, (Not)

The press would probably get the same response from all the other Premiership managers, with the possible exception of the Everton manager.

    All too familiar territory unfortunately.

I have more respect now for Rafa and really hope he will stay God love him. Do your best mate, we are with you heart and soul.

Well fingers crossed for top quality signings and a good display, possibly a result on Sunday. HWTL

The Benefit of having Rafa as the manager, is that he is an attraction in the recruitment of transfer targets.

He is currently at the centre of negotiations to bring players to the club. He will not give the slightest indication that he might leave!

Watford agree £18.5M fee for Andre Gray and we struggle to raise £13M for a better player in Perez – shows the lack of ambition at the club !! and possibly points to a long season at the bottom – never mind we will have the parachute payments in the Championship as well as some top money from selling anyone who has a decent season

If this is to be the year Shelvey finally fulfills his full potential we are in for a treat. He looks in great shape and this desire he has to get into the England squad should surely only benefit us. It’s all about his temperament. The ability is not in doubt.

It’s not that you criticise the club. It’s that you go about it like a cock. There are ways to establish a point of view without being a reet prick.

If the worst happens and rafa walks or we are relegated again, the people chosing to have hope will sadly admit you were right. You meanwhile would likely be chuffed if we went down to show all us zombies that your knobbery was correct. If we survive comfortably and rafa stays, will you hold your hands up and admit you were wrong? Probably not, far better to be paranoid that the sky is going to fall every day than enjoy yourself every once in a while.
